Review of The Overlook Cafe

The Overlook Cafe: A Scenic Stopover with Decent Food

The Overlook Cafe is a small eatery located inside the Nature Store and Children's Animal Center in Glen Rose, Texas. The cafe is open seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and serves as a convenient stopover for visitors to the nearby Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.

The cafe boasts a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and wildlife, making it an ideal spot for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. The food is decent, with burgers and fries being the most popular items on the menu. The cafe also offers hummus trays and French fries for vegetarians. Customers have praised the coffee, and some have even collected the cafe's souvenir cups.

However, the cafe has received mixed reviews from customers. While some have raved about the food and the view, others have criticized the slow service and high prices. Some customers have complained about the lack of variety on the menu, while others have reported receiving undercooked or raw food.

The cafe is run by students, and some customers have reported long wait times due to the limited staff. However, the waitstaff is friendly and attentive, and the cafe is clean and well-maintained.

If you're visiting the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and need a place to grab a bite, The Overlook Cafe is worth a stop. The view alone is worth the visit, and the food is decent enough to satisfy your hunger. However, be prepared for high prices and potential wait times, and don't expect a wide variety of menu options.

The food tasted great and was priced reasonably. You can actually access the cafe without going through Fossil Rim Park. The inside of the cafe was very simple and we weren’t sure what to expect, but the views (in addition to the food) made it worthwhile. I eat gluten free and they offered an Udis bun and the fried my French fries in a separate fryer. Highly recommend!

Pretty good burgers. The vegetables in the hummus trays weren't very fresh. It was definitely overpriced. But we loved fossil rim so much, and it was fun to have a place to stop and eat along the way!

Me and my Daughter loved the food and the view. The whole park was one of the greatest moments for her she can't wait to come back.

the student cooked the food for a long time. I had to leave without waiting for my order. as it was not ready after 10 minutes. I only had 15 minutes for a rest stop. lost $30

Several families ordered after us and got their food first. We had 3 separate orders in our group, 2 got their food within 10 minutes, we waited over 30 for ours

Food is not bad. Very pretty overlook of fossil rim.

Food was way better than it had any right to be. You are captive next to nowhere in this small food shack and expect barely edible food. But no... it's surprisingly good. Having had cheesesteaks all around Philly, I know good and bad... and there's is actually pretty good. Fries came out well cooked, wife really liked her patty melt, and liked the Pepsi at the fountain. Enjoy the view and food that is warm and tasty for a surprisingly good meal.
