Spotted Deer Coffee Company

Quit my job here. This is an honest review of the management and cleanliness of this business. Not part of some personal vendetta.

The 19 year old “owner” has since banned me from the property after accusing me of being violent. Have not spoken to her or seen her since quitting, I have been blocked by her on every platform. I’ve seen her and her father (co-owner) yell at each other behind the bar. Same goes for her and her brother. Fails to separate work from personal life. Makes it a little awkward when you’re trying to wind down with a fantastic latte. That being said... owner is inexperienced and unprofessional. Not to mention, immature. Absolutely in no way is she ready to run or manage any business of ANY kind.

As for the coffee shop itself, pretty dirty place. The four teenagers/friends she has left working there don’t sweep or mop. Don’t clean toilets. They use expired ingredients in their sandwiches. Pastries aren’t fully cooked. The store bought foods (like deli meats, sauces and cheeses) and baking ingredients (like milk, butter, cream cheese, etc.) are left unsealed in their fridge. The kitchen area where they bake the pastries every morning is always filthy. Flies and gnats get stuck in the butter they leave out and use again every morning. Counters/oven caked in old batter and burnt bits. All the time. Those pastries you’re eating? Prepared on the filthiest counters I’ve ever seen. They use the same rags over and over on the counters, to wipe food off the tables, wipe down the espresso machine, to dry their hands, to pick up spills on the FLOOR. Too many uses for one single rag. The coffee is otherwise sanitarily prepared at least. Not so much anything else.

Enjoy a coffee and moldy scone at Spotted Deer Coffee Company! Where they say they’re dog friendly, but really, would ask you to remove your dog from the building if they were expecting a health inspector “any minute now!”

The banana cake is really good. Ham and cheese scone was good too, warmed up.

People were friendly and helpful too. Will return when back in this area.

Good, but pretty pricey

The coffee here is really well done and the breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Visiting from Seattle this felt familiar.

Great coffee and friendly staff! The coffee is smooth with no bitter aftertaste. It is so nice to have a quaint coffee shop, WiFi and all, in Fair Oaks Ranch!

Great house blend!

Picked up a box of their house blend for Day 2 of a workshop I had that morning and everyone loved it, better than the Starbucks box I brought Day 1.

Delicious coffee and pastries and staff have served with respect and a nice smile . I'm not even from San Antonio but I'm sure glad I stopped by will for sure recommend this fine establishment

Loved all the different add on’s and flavors. A great detour to make and one I look forward to making regularly. AND they use 5stars loyalty program (that I regularly use elsewhere). Friendly and quick customer service.

I love this place way too much. The coffee is 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 and the food is yummy.
