We visited the cafe and gift shop on our visit to Mount Rushmore. They both good and break when walking around the grounds of Mount Rushmore. Mount Rushmore has been on my must see list since I was a child. It is such a tremendous monument to see and did not disappoint one bit.

Some areas are closed for the season but they still have ice cream and everything available.

Sweet place, good food, engage the staff and they love to tell you what they know. Ask about the vanilla ice cream and why it's so special.
Bison burger, bison chili; it's all delicious.

The one thing keeping this review from being only one star is the gorgeous view you get of Mt. Rushmore, whether dining in or eating on the patio. Huge windows let you see the great faces in all their splendor from nearly every part of the building.
The food was subpar at best considering the ridiculous prices. The prices are to be expected since it's in a major tourist destination, but the food was on par with what you would find in a high school cafeteria. The lady who appeared to be the manager was rather rude and appeared generally unhappy. I found out why.
I am 100% behind employers that want to hire, train, and retain those with disabilities. Being disabled myself, I think it's great. But when literally every employee you have scheduled is moderately to severely mentally disabled, it's blatantly obvious that you're more worried about making a statement than the customer's experience. Quite frankly, it's just ridiculous. On top of the staff being unable to help me with much of anything due to their disabilities, there were random outbursts from several of them every 15 minutes or so. I felt very bad for them.
My advice: save your money, your stomach, and an overall unpleasant experience by dining somewhere in Keystone, the town just down the road from Rushmore. They have plenty of good restaurants to choose from there.

The food was average at best. There was a elderly woman that was bussing the tables. She treated our well behaved kids like they were criminals! I made eye contact with numerous patrons that were all laughing under our masks as this old bird yelled at random children. It would have been funny if I didn’t spent $50 on two kids meals and a burger. The food was fine but please get rid of Cruella Deville!!!!!

Reasonably priced decent food. My only complaint is about staff especially cashiers. She took a very long time to ring up our order and did not know what we have ordered- though she was looking at our food. I was surprised that she did not know French fries. As she was not a native english speaker may be you need to train them more intensely.

Basic, over-priced food you would get at any tourist trap. It was bad, but I wouldn't go special just for that place.

Me and my sister are her our total was around 28 dollars but we both got a drink which is good for free refills all day, both got an order of fries which in my opinion was over filled to much but not complaining, she got a small pizza and I got a buffalo burger was delicious and definitely worth the price. I recommend anyone to eat there.

A very decent on-site dining experience while visiting Mount Rushmore. Food was tasty and well prepared. Plenty of seating, but it can get _very_ crowded during holidays. Off peak dining hours are best.

Nice place to eat lunch with the family. The prices are quite high, but the food is very good and where else can you eat in view of Mount Rushmore. If you like chili, the buffalo chili is pretty darn good and affordible($5.75 for a bowl). If you like Alfred Hitchcock, the Carver Cafe was used in the filming of "North by Northwest" with Cary Grant.
