Outstanding locally owned business. Great Chai Tea Latte and bakery goods. Nice menu and sandwiches, pleasant. Indoor and outdoor seating under shade trees or on the porch. Orders brought out to you. Beautiful views of Quiet Port Royal while visiting. Shop local.

This is one of the cutest coffee shops you'll ever see. The location is everything. It's perched right on the edge of the Cypress Wetlands central to Port Royal and massive, gorgeous southern live oaks stands in the parking area providing shade to the roomy patio. You can't ignore the beauty of the quintessential lowcountry neighborhood feel with the Spanish moss and the gargle of the herons and egrets in the nearby rookery. Enjoy your coffee on the porch under the shade of the live oak. We had to squeegy the dewy damp outdoor chair before sitting to sip the coffee. A green tree frog joined us. I should say something about the food, which is simple, fresh, quality, and nothing over the top. They do it right. Quick bites, mostly. Evidence of the generosity of locals is pasted on a community board where people buy others a coffee depending on who they want to support. Lots of free coffees for military folks, students, nurses, etc. Nice place!

My teenage grandson & I stopped in for breakfast on a Wednesday morning in early March. I was so excited to find a place open at 7am! We were lucky that we found a short line when we got there, and were greeted with a smile. There were two young ladies working behind the counter and the kitchen was directly behind them. I noticed a gentleman behind the counter, but over to the side and he was preparing a cup of coffee & chatting & laughing a bit with the ladies before walking away. I'll get to why I mention him in a sec.
My grandson ordered brioche french toast from the Build your brunch menu. It was served a la carte $13. He also ordered a very small cup of cheesy grits ($3). His matcha iced latte ($4.60), unsweetened, was very good, after he added some sugar.
I ordered the bacon basil biscuit - I wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, it didn't come with eggs but the employee told me I could add eggs if I wanted to. It was a biscuit with spinach (lots of stems to pull off), bacon and a mayo-type sauce, which made it pretty messy. I would have LOVED this IF - the biscuit was larger so that I had a bite of biscuit with my bacon, spinach & egg, if they had added only one fried egg instead of 2 (they were sliding all over the place), and if the bacon and spinach had been chopped, torn or otherwise made more 'biteable'. The dish came with 4 pieces of fruit (2 pineapple & 2 melon) and cost $10 + $2 for the eggs. I added grits also - $3.
My latte was made to order - for a 12oz cup with vanilla bean ($1) & almond milk ($.65) - total $5.60, it was delish. Not sure why they charged extra for almond milk!
When we found a seat at one of the long tables, the man that had been friendly with the ladies was seated across from me & he greeted us. I heard them call my name & mentioned that I thought they delivered to us - I had added a tip to my check. He told me that we retrieve our drinks & they bring out the food. When my grandson brought my latte, I mentioned that I was surprised that they served in a paper cup. The man asked me if I would like him to ask for a mug for me & I said, wow that would be nice! So he did! Very nice of him. He told me he is a regular & they are like family. I try to avoid drinking my latte in a paper cup, it makes the experience less satisfying.
I really liked this place & wish we could have enjoyed the patio but it was chilly out & they don't have patio heaters.
My total for this very small breakfast was $41.63 and I left a tip on top of that. If I'm dining at a nice restaurant with full service and nice tables, I expect these prices. But this is a very casual place & very self-serve. I think I want a little more for my money. I gave them 4 stars for the hours, the friendliness, the loyalty of the regulars & the cleanliness of the tables. The food was tasty, but not stellar.

I love visiting the Port Royal location while in Beaufort. Sarah is always so kind, and gives excellent suggestions when putting my feelers out for food. Today she suggested the FAT, with basted eggs! It was THE BEST!

I went here for the first time recently and it was SO good!! Love the setting/decor, great menu options and pleasant service. I will definitely be going back! I got the avocado and chorizo burrito and my husband got the chicken salad wrap!

If I based my experience just on the coffee, I would give it a 1 star at best. I was a Barista and I'm passionate about coffee. When I tried to have a conversation with the staff at this coffee shop, I should have just played it safe and ordered drip coffee. My husband and I ordered pour overs because they roast their own coffee. It tasted like a drip from a hotel. We spent over $3 a piece on hotel quality coffee. It could be the barista didn't do the pour over correctly. Maybe it didn't bloom. I still can't get a consistent bloom. Or maybe it was the roast. We did try two different roasts. The lighter one was more tolerable.
I hope the staff is paid very well or maybe it's slower than my coffee shop. They had two staff members that handled cooking breakfast food, pulling coffee, grabbing pastries, running register, and bussing tables.
The food was surprisingly okay. The only fresh item was the egg on top. I've had worse chorizo before. This was decent but the dish was mostly potatoes. Nice presentation idea to put it in a skillet. However, it obviously wasn't cooked on the skillet. It was cold to touch.
I had high expectations based on reviews and website. For a fair review, please note for reference that I buy Perc, Counter Culture, Highfalutin, etc coffee. I will drink the occasional k-cup based on what's available BUT I will not go to Starbucks. Oh, I will drink regular Dunkin Donut Coffee if I need to.

UPDATE
I went in today for a quick coffee and my daughters favorite meal (French toast with fruit). It is very clean! The staff is a lot BETTER! The bathroom is super clean as well. I'll be returning when I'm on this side of town. Also the decor for Christmas is the cutest.
I was a regular here since 2021. The service has declined quite a bit since then. The staff has been changed quite a bit too. The food used to be very good and worth the price but not as much anymore. There are also been many instances where the dining area and bathrooms have been unclean. I noticed the upkeep decreased significantly when the staff changed.

The food was great. The coffee was great. The nearby Cypress walk, just added to the charm.

Very knowledgeable staff member took our order and was able to offer suggestions for their various coffee varieties based on our described personal preferences. Coffee was amazing - we ended up taking two bags home with us. They were kind enough to grind one there so we could use with our drip coffee maker at our Air BnB. Breakfast was delicious - husband ordered the avocado and chorizo burrito and I had egg and cheese biscuit. Everything fresh to order, hot, and delicious! The grits are stone ground, griddle cooked and amazing!!! Definitely enjoyed the outdoor seating in the shade and were able to bring our well-behaved dogs to sit with us. Would definitely visit again!
