Downtown Cafe

After reading reviews, I was looking forward to having lunch there. My waitress gave good service. It took a while to get my food. The tea, roll, & cole slaw were good. But the sweet potato fries had no flavor. The fried flounder was compressed meat with not so good breading and it was hard. I felt like $18 was thrown down the drain. I give it one star for my waitress.

This place is really good. If you are looking for comfort food this is definitely the place to go.

The owner is rude. I watched her be rude to the cashier ranging up her groceries. She told the nice young lady to "hurry up" in her words.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We are from Louisiana and just so happened to come across this place while in town, and the visit was worth it! The fried chicken is INCREDIBLE! Best fried chicken I’ve ever had, and that says a lot coming from a Louisianan! Also, the apple dumplings are a MUST! Will definitely be eating here a few more times before leaving out!

I discovered this little jewel of a place when I was easing through town and weary of chain joints. Today the special was either ham perlou or catfish. The ham perlou as was superb sweet potato soufflé. Excellent, attentive service gets this place 5 stars and a heart on my map!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the owners of Downtown Cafe, Mr. & Mrs. Davis. I contacted them about catering a repass dinner and they were WONDERFUL! From their Superb Customer Service to their DELICIOUS food, Downtown Cafe was EXCELLENT! I would definitely recommend Downtown Cafe and I will be using them again for future events.

We enjoyed our lunch. It was delicious, and our server Morgan was sweet as could be. The macaroni and cheese was about the best I have had in a long time. The chocolate delight was yummy. Hope you will try this homestyle restaurant on Academy Street, in downtown Kingstree soon.
