Great coffee, coolers and lemonades! I always have the hardest time choosing. The cucumber, lime and mint cooler and raspberry cold brew are so good! The blueberry scones are great also. The owners are so nice. It is my favorite place on the island!

Fun little place! We got there when the cookies just finished cooking. The coffee and cookies were 100%. Wish we would’ve stopped here first.

We were at Dafuski Blues having a class on Indigo dying.
The coffee shop is at the back of the dying shop. We had a perfect day.

Not only is the coffee amazing her baked goods are some of the best you’ll ever taste. I would visit the island again solely for her scones and cookies. This is a must stop! The cinnamon crunch cookies specifically were the best cookies we have ever had. The sweetest barista and baker!

Coffee and Halloween-themed Chocolate chip muffin were just divine! Nice little covered place out back to sit and enjoy the coffee while talking with some of the locals. Well worth the effort to make it here if you're exploring Daufuskie Island.

We were lucky and met Pam, owner of School Grounds Coffee, on our first ferry ride to Daufuskie Island. We walked off that ferry knowing we'd found a very special place with very special people.
Pam & her husband's, School Grounds Coffee, on School Road, is what other baristas dream to create. Simply, delicious coffee, hot chocolate or lemon ice & Pam's baked treat of the day, and a laid back Daufuskie welcome. Pam and her friends at School Grounds are part of the warm, generous heart that greet newbie and long time islander alike. The Daufuskie community neighborly manner mixed with the island's wild beauty shape the beloved treasure of Daufuskie. On our first morning back on Daufuskie, look for us at School Grounds Coffee.

Great hot and cold drinks. They make a great bourbon maple pecan milkshake -- must try!! Also, their lemon cookies and pound cake are to die for. Owners are the sweetest people on Earth!!

Starbucks has nothing on this wonderful little gem, located in the heart of Daufuskie's Historic District. Brian and Pam will make you feel like old friends from the moment you walk in the door. They have a great selection of coffee drinks and use high quality coffee, tea, and hot chocolate products. (If you're really lucky, you'll have a chance to sample some "Pam-Cakes"...but don't take too long because they go fast!)
The School Grounds Coffee shop is located at the rear of the historic Mary Fields School, built by the WPA. Now used as the island's community center (and also housing the fascinating "Daufuskie Blues" indigo shop), while sipping your coffee you can hear about the history of the school where Pat Conroy taught and later wrote "The Water is Wide" based on his experiences as a Daufuskie teacher of Gullah children.
Visitors shouldn't miss this opportunity to mingle with local islanders, to learn about the "true Daufuskie," and after just one visit to feel like a regular "where everybody knows your name." This is a one-of-a-kind find that absolutely shouldn't be missed if you're fortunate enough to be visiting beautiful Daufuskie. (Photos by Tour Daufuskie; Mary Fields School by Holger Operderbeck.)

Delicious coffee! Ask for a surprise coffee and let them whip up Magic for you! Bakery goods are also a hit!

Came over to the island early in the morning for biking. Realized that while early in the morning is perfect for biking it is not perfect if you haven't had caffeine. Luckily school grounds coffee was there to make it better. And I mean better. The latte was amazing, cookies fresh out of the oven, and a bagel was the perfect way to start our biking tour. The owners are so sweet. They are definitely going to be a regular stop when we come to visit.
