Macalen is top notch. Not only does she know my usual but she is already starting to make it by the time I enter the building. I've met the owner several times, wonderful person. My favorite spot in Tacoma to relax with friends or just me and my dog Thunder.

I was going to meet a friend at another place up the street but when I arrived early the vibe was uncomfortable and the place smelled like burnt coffee. So I quickly changed our rendezvous to Mocambo even though I had never been there before. I have no regrets. The space is open and airy. The barista was welcoming and upon hearing it was my first time she asked some questions and offered suggestions based on my preferences. I got a dirty spiced chai with oatmilk and it was great. The gentle music in the background was pleasant but didn't overtake the conversations in the room. I highly recommend this gem.

I've visited this place 4 times. Although I do Give 5 stars for atmosphere, the quality of service and especially food needs great improvements. The pecan sticky bun was hard as a brick, coming from the food service industry, more training is needed for employees, and strict adhering to serving old expired food.

I do not want to give bad review for a place like that. Looks nice and was happy it open on early evening on Sunday. Would love more bakery options and not Danish from Costco 😳 I want something that I. Annoy get at Costco for much cheaper. Give us nice bakery and choices please. Thank you

Awesome chai shop! Best authentic Chai in town and I wish more people knew about it! They have great pastries and great places to sit and/or study! They need to get rid of the Metronome sign though as it’s confusing.

Classic (in a good way) café. They have some light bites; pastries, sandwiches, bagels, etc. All delicious. They seem to change regularly. The espresso is excellent, they actually know how to draw shots and they never taste burnt or short or watered down. They also take care to brew tea correctly, which is EXCELLENT. They have over 30 loose leaf teas, and they actually use the proper tea:water ratio, which is rare. They have a display in the café with each of the teas for you to sniff before you commit to a one, which is great. The one downside, if you could call it that, is that they're a bit slow. That being said, it's clear that the reason they're a bit slow it's because they put a lot of care into the food and drinks they serve, so it doesn't bother me at all. Just keep in mind this is no drive thru massive corporate chain coffee 😉

It is Metronome but all grown up. I love the new atmosphere. The selection of dried tea and coffee is perfect. I may have a new place.

This place has a high employee turn over. There’s one girl who is really good with customers & has been there a while, but otherwise it makes it hard to get a consistent quality drink because every barista there seems to be different. I love how Stephanie makes my drink though. Place often looks dirty but the atmosphere is decent. Milk sometimes tastes not right

Mocambo is located in the late, great Metronome Coffee location on 6th Avenue and I'm so happy it's a worthy successor. NW Coffee houses used to be more common - but a space like Mocambo is becoming harder to find. It is light and clean with plenty of tables. In addition to solid cups of espresso - the doppios I've had here are nice - smooth, not bitter - they have grilled sandwiches and pastries from Macrina. Highly recommended for work/studying and coffee dates

I came to check this place out this past week because they were new in town and are replacing the Metronome Coffee, and after seeing a Google 4.5 star rating vs. a Yelp 2.5 star rating I decided to check them out for myself. The coffee was good, I ordered a hot mocha, but the pastries they offered were disappointing. They are just upselling Costco pastries.

On the positive side, the customer service was friendly. However, when I ordered a hot latte…it came out lukewarm.

NOT a chai bar, if that's what you are hoping for. Just the same sad powdered chai. So so disappointing. Make it fresh y'all, it really ain't that hard. I'd give zero if I could.
