Prices can be a bit high at times but the trade off is absolutely worth it. Coffee 10/10, Staff 12/10, atmosphere and music? You guessed it 10/10. There's no better cafe in the hampton roads area.
Laid back atmosphere. It has a children's play area. Tasty food. I enjoyed my turkey sandwich and Chai tea
Food and drink were awesome, as well as the service. They also seemed to be training a new person, and they were all so kind and encouraging which is awesome. Definitely going to become my new go to!
I just moved to the area and was invited to try this wonderful place with a friend. I will definitely be back often. The café is beautiful ,staff were super sweet and the food /coffee was amazing. I also love they have option for my kids that have to avoid dairy and gluten.
Good food, good drinks. Nice atmosphere. I don't think they ever actually clean the highchairs though... at least they were nasty when we went, so I ate with my baby on my lap 🤦♀️
I love the Persnickety Crane Cafe! I come here almost every weekend and always bring my friends. Everyone loves it! It is such a gem for the area. I highly recommend for coffee, food, and the bakery items! Everything is wonderful.

Yummy! We met Cecila, the Hawaiian native bring her culture to Newport News. She taught us her vision to provide the persnickety lenses to all she does. She hopes to bring an excellent experience for her customers from clean environment, fresh ingredients, and welcoming staff. She donates proceeds to charities across the world.
I REALLY wanted to like this place. I had heard great things, so maybe we just went in on an off day. We placed a pickup order online. When we got there, customer service was meh. She seemed annoyed to be there. I had an iced latte, which was great and the only reason there’s an extra star. We also got a hot drink, which was cold by the time all the food was ready. Food was made one item at the time, which means the first item was cold by the time the last one was done. Avocado toast got soggy, even though it was missing the lemon it’s supposed to come with, and the tomato I had paid extra for. Breakfast burrito was mushy and bland. The sunrise bowl was good though. Overall very disappointing experience. Won’t be back.
We just moved to the area- the “Coffee Whisperer” espresso drink is AH-amazing! Our daughter is 3 years old and the play area is great- nice for parents to be able to enjoy coffee while the kids play. To top it off the customer service was on point and so attentive. 5 stars!
Wonderful cafe with great relaxing atmosphere. Family friendly, great coffee, tea selection, and food.
Being a mom of two toddlers, it's really refreshing to have a business come in and create an environment that can accommodate every age group. The play area is a life saver for moms who don't have alot of places to feel comfortable outside of the home. Other age groups can enjoy serious refreshments and beautifully constructed meals. I love that they have a real expresso machine and their not starbucks. Yorktown deserved a great coffee shop and they finally have it. Also keep an eye out for local artists work for sale and make sure to support this wonderful small business.
I love coming here to relax and let me baby play! The kids play area is awesome but there are also quite corners tucked away if you need to focus more without kiddos distracting you. Drinks and food are all delicious!
I have been to Persnickety many times. The atmosphere can be chaotic at times with the number of children in the play space, but it depends what time you go. The employees are competent, and the food and drinks are good. I don’t recommend stopping for to-go drinks as they can take a while. The Italian garden sandwich is my favorite.
$8 for an iced mocha with no alterations?! That’s insane! The drink was ok, nothing special and kind of dull flavor. Would not go back because the prices are insane. Even with inflation, other small coffee shops are not charging that much.
My whole experience with your company was the worst I’ve ever had in my entire life. I inquired about the matcha latte before I ordered it. It was highly recommended by the staff. One of my hobbies is to have matcha latte everywhere I go. This by far the worst matcha latte I ever had. It looked like swamp water; it smelled like old mildew; and it tasted rancid. I took my drink back and asked for a new one or alternate. Then, the staff refused. They said they would not replace the drink and that I would have to pay them again if I want anything else. The drink was already over priced at the $7 price point, but since they refused to replace the drink or issue a refund, I have been left completely ripped off. Once again, this is the worst experience I ever encounter in any coffee shop or cafe in my entire life.
The customer service is very unprofessional. Did not feel welcome there. They were inattentive and seemed as if they were slacking off talking to each other and not paying attention to the customers. I felt very uncomfortable and unwanted. The food and drinks are mediocre and just average. I went there twice already thinking it would be better the second time but it wasn't. Honestly I think the only thing they have going for them is that they are one of the only cafés in the area.
Over priced. I can’t stand that every coffee shop ask for a tip nowadays on top of overpriced coffee. $7.14 for a 10oz latte is ridiculous. It’s a nice place but that small cup he handed me after $7 triggered the inner Karen in me.
As a new mama who loves a delicious coffee and good food this place is truly a haven to relax 🤍 thank you to the amazing staff and baristas for such a great environment to catch up with other mama friends while keeping the kiddos entertained and having fun!
This cafe is so cute! I love all the crane facts and little details throughout the cafe. The atmosphere is very homey and relaxing, my son is 3 he loved the play area and it allowed me to enjoy a really good cold brew and just watch him have fun, he also really like the fruit on a stick. The food we got was delicious I really enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich. My one and only complaint is a few of the tables had a lot of leftover crumbs so we had to pick a table a little further from play area
