I had been visiting the Richmond Road Extraordinary Cupcake location for years with extremely great service and the best quality cupcakes! I would make the 1 hour drive from Richmond just for these cupcakes. Well that changed when I ordered online for the new location at Illy Cafe and have never been more let down. Not only were the staff extremely rude at the counter when I asked about my pickup order but it took an hour to even get the cupcakes I ordered. I had to ask about my order 2x at the counter where I was met with eye rolls and sarcasm. I was shocked at how the lady spoke to me just for simply asking if they even received my order. The cupcake icing was melting when I finally got my order and cake itself was dry. What happened? Sadly I will not return here simply for the poor service, lack of professionalism, and the long wait time.

Absolutely disgusting work conditions, mold in multiple different areas including in the pastry case. The employees do not care if the store is clean. I kept getting in trouble for making a sanitizer bucket to clean down work spaces. I was absolutely horrified by my coworkers customer service they are absolutely awful people. The manager is a lazy lazy piece of work! I cannot even begin to understand why this place is still open with all of the poor health code practices. This place needs to be shut down. Never in my life have I ever worked somewhere that remotely disgusting, I won’t even share the other things that I saw. Please avoid this place!!! I figured it’s time to write out my review.

Good coffee! Had an iced latte since it was hot out. 4 stars due to the bathrooms not being super clean, but they are unisex and see a lot of traffic!

In my opinion, hands down the best latte in Williamsburg. Sometimes the line is really, really long - but it's worth the wait. You'll need to be patient, as this coffee shop is in a location that gets lots of Colonial Williamsburg traffic. The staff works really, really hard to accommodate everyone. It's so much fun to have a delicious coffee, sit outside on DOG St, and people-watch!

Good enough coffee. Better than the alternatives in Williamsburg. Shane they didn't have pour-over. The Bombolone was good, the vanilla cream and the chocolate hazelnut (Nutella, basically)

Ily Cafe is a great spot for a good cup of coffee and a pastry! The staff are very customer service oriented and efficient, and they handle the vast amount of business they do very smoothly, which is appealing when you want to get in and out quickly. The shop is really cute and clean and there are some nice tables to sit at and enjoy. For me personally, the atmosphere is really too noisy and busy to want to stay and eat in. If I am going to sit and drink my coffee or try to work on the computer, I need a lot less chaos. That said, for a quick rest during the shopping day on Duke of Gloucester, it's perfect. They have a large selection of pastries that all look very fresh and appealing. My Daughter really enjoyed her chocolate croissant! One unfortunate thing is that they didn't seem to have any gluten-free offerings for my husband, who is Gluten Intolerant.

This place was so dirty. Garbage cans over flowing. Trash on the floors. Dirty bathrooms. Displays were dirty as well. I ordered a coffee and a croissant (heated). The only thing “warm” (not hot) was the coffee. Definitely NOT worth the inflated cost! Management failed here!

Iced coffee was good. There tends to be a line and it doesn't move very quickly.

Horrible and I mean horrible customer service. The cashier was insanely rude..visually annoyed to be working.. when asked what flavor cupcakes do you have? He responded “your guess is as good as mine.” Then asked if he could add a bottled water to the order he said there are too many options!!!! The other employee when asked if they had Togo containers ignored me then said no here’s a bag. Terrible experience. Negates all the good food.

The only coffee place opened at 9 am. on the whole area. We had the almond croissant and the cheese and blueberry Danish. I was pleased with the "feuilleté" (the fluffy dough) but did not really like the almond paste that I had an artificial flavor and the blueberry filling, which was very sweet.

Went back after a long time because of attitude. Last visit was good but this time I was reminded why I haven’t gone back for a while. Female attitude is very poor just because I asked for my coffee to be put in a to go cup.

Love the freshly made coffees and the pastries. I'd love to see soup on the menu in the afternoons.

I almost thought I was going into an Ikea this place was so modern after stepping off of Merchants Square in Colonial Williamsburg. It was a lonely January day, so not sure how busy it is during the "season". But, we were served right away and after a short wait got our caffeine the way we like it. It tasted good, unique and fresh. Pretty full inside as people were trying to escape the cold. Plenty of seating, so it worked well.

I purchased a decaf and my boyfriend a regular brewed coffee; they were both tasteless, watery. One star for his and one star for mine, (politely served though). We will try again, could be an off day.
