I like the new minimalist atmosphere with lots of light and ample seating. Serving Counter Culture coffee, which is a favorite. We stopped in for drinks and opted for a single origin pour over and a mexi mocha - both were excellent. Food looked good (we’ll be back).
It's so cute here!! Adorable space, with happy plants and a comfy couch in the back. Wonderful!!
One of the best lattes I've ever had (a candied orange mocha), and the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and patient. Bonus: If you're an almond milk fan, they use the Barista Blend version that froths and foams better in lattes. 👍🏻
The coffee, teas, and food here are absolutely wonderful and so tasty. The only downside is the the wait. I waited almost an hour for my order. I literally got a breakfast sandwich and a chai tea latte. I placed my order at 11:05 and here is my receipt showing proof. I didn’t leave here till 11:54. This is unacceptable. I would NEVER stop here in the morning on your way to work. You’ll be late to your job because you’ll have to wait an hour for your food and coffee!!!! Hire more people geez.
Good coffee and food options with pleasant ambience right next to the city center fountains. My only complaint is they have some light fixtures behind their ceiling fans so if you're sensitive to flickering lights it can be a bit much depending on where you sit.
Great coffee and treats!
Great spot for breakfast and specialty coffee drinks!
Went up there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They have some really interesting coffee flavors. So I just ask the barista what her favorite was and she told me and she was not wrong! Candied orange rocks. The pastry was ok, but nothing to write home to mom about. And they were super ok with my legitimately trained and properly behaved service dog. As a service dog handler a lot of times you have to worry about if someone is going to give you flack come in if they don't know you. The barista ask the questions she's allowed to ask under law and everything went great. This is not a pet friendly place to the best of my knowledge because I don't go to pet-friendly places since other people's dogs attacked my service dog so frequently. But they are very legitimately train them properly behaved service dog friendly, which I appreciate greatly. We will be going back soon.
Loved the raspberry cheesecake latté!
Great music
Picture this! You wake up and notice it's cold and raining. Hoping to have your coffee and the day would get better. Instead you settle for Starbucks. Come back and start to consolidate your coffee beans. Grinding them and your coffee grinder burns out. Your google search said, You can get your coffee grinded at your local coffee shop. So you skip with joy to your local coffee shop and they grind the beans for you. Out of principle you buy a delicious green tea and proceed to leave to your car. You forgetfully leave your card in the reader. No worries! Your friendly Barista (Hannah) saves the day, running the card out to you. Somebody give that girl the employee of the month parking spot and a raise!
I like this coffee shop!
They had a fantastic rosemary and turkey sandwich and their staff working were really nice and had no issues at all. Coffee was good.
A must visit st the heart of city center Newport News
PROS This is such a nice new spot to come when I want to get out but not travel far. The staff is very friendly and the food an drink and VERY good. There is also free wifi so you can come here if you'd like to do some work on your laptop. CONS It's hard to relax inside because currently it's November and it's very cold. So you have to stay bundled up and just deal with being cold. I don't know why they don't turn on the heat! Also I personally feel the coffee and food are overpriced. A small coffee, pastry, and sandwich will easily cost you $24 which is $6 more than what it would cost you at Starbucks, and you'd get more food portion at Indulge Cafe for the same amount of money. Lastly, the pastry selections are very basic and small in number so don't expect to have a wide range of options. Overall Cure Coffee is a great and convenient cafe with friendly staff, and very tasty food and drink. But I can't give this place 5 stars until they adjust their prices (or increase their food portion) and turn on the heat.
I always like to try a place at least more than once before I give a critical review so I have tried cure coffee and Newport News and Smithfield and today was my third time going I I am a latte Drinker and I will say that the coffee is good but my issue is I don't think that it's almost $9 for a cup good I got a large creme brulee iced latte just regular nothing added or anything special and the total was $8.23 I'll be honest if the prices were equivalent to that of Starbucks I would probably replace my morning Starbucks with their coffee just so that I could support a different company but this price point will hold them back they have pretty good food I will say and the selection of pastries is way better than most coffee places around but if you are willing to stop into a coffee place that's locally owned I personally recommend Persnickety crane their prices are more reasonable and the atmosphere is just perfect they also have food and their kids meals are just outstanding
Best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. And the lox and cream bagel is decadent. Great coffee, too, with a creative seasonal menu. A gem of a shop.
Nice to have a coffee shop in the city center again! Delicious coffee & hot chocolate. Thank you for making not too hot hot chocolates for little customers. Everyone is satisfied! 💕
This shop took over the old Aroma's location and I think it looks great. Super clean and modern aesthetic. Very fitting for City Center. The food and drinks have been very tasty - my favorite order is the beetroot latte.
Good coffee. Great service!! Hope they do well. City Center needs this coffee house!!
