I am not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but I do enjoy a nice study area. It's cozy, clean, and convenient with pretty tasty coffee. I was a little surprised by the price of the coffee that I got (around $8) but the space redeemed it. The coffee barista was super sweet and knowledgable plus she made a nice coffee.
Delicious breakfast and cappuccinos or flat whites (have had both).
Tasty food and coffee, kind baristas, great atmosphere, beautiful outdoor space.
My husband got me an “Old Reliable” for breakfast and I am unsure how you can make such a simple recipe disgusting. The breakfast potatoes and sandwich had a weird taste- O legitimately took one bite and threw it away. Y’all need to clean your fryer or something. 0/10. Total waste of food and money. He said his breakfast sandwich had an off taste too.
Excellent vibe, best vibe for a coffee shop in Arlington, but the food is pretty overpriced. Inconsistent quality for over $20… sometimes it’s really good and sometimes hard to eat
I’ve been here a couple times but I had such a great time at the open mic, I had to come on and tell everyone what an amazing time it is! The food is amazing and so affordable I came hungry and got a ton of food! I couldn’t get enough! Maybe all the laughter made me hungrier and thirsty! I had the hibiscus tea and also had a couple beers, I had such a great time and I wish the comedy never ended! Shout out to Aristotle! They are a comedian that really makes me want to come back! I have a big family and I told them we all have to come and watch these legendary comedians before they become famous, like Elani and Laura are definitely hollywood material! Me and 11 of my cousins have all agreed to come see them, and lord knows we’re planning on coming hungry and thirsty for all the affordable and satisfying offerings that detour has! we love to have a couple beers and laugh! Thanks for hosting comedy in Arlington, much needed in a town like this! I look forward to seeing all the amazing comedians again very soon
Came here for open mic night on a Monday. Really cool atmoshpere. Very comfy. Some of performers were good, some were not; it was fun to sit, drink, and listen.
This place has really good coffee and food. I'm usually excited when a meetup gets posted here.
I like the atmosphere there. Very warm and cute
The espresso based drinks are fantastic. The coffee is great and the milk is steamed perfectly. Definitely the one of the best coffee drinks I've found in the area. The food and drinks are a bit pricy but you get a good serving size of food.
Cool vibes n tasty food, they also have open 🎤 Monday might for stand ups.
My hubby and I walked into Detour and it was love at first sight😍😍😍 The food is delicious and little Bartholomew just loved the CBD burger!! Would definitely bring the in-laws here again😜😜😜
Great décor, very friendly staff, amazing and very tasty food (had "Across steak lines" and "Mediterranean" sandwiches) and reasonable prices. Easy 5 star.
My favorite coffee shop in Arlington. It’s located in a pretty unassuming place, between a jiffy lube and an urgent care, and walking distance from the very popular Northside Social (which I feel is kind of overrated). You won’t be disappointed by the coffee, the owner is very particular about the beans they use. The price seems fair, not as expensive as other shops nearby. The two times I’ve been, I got beautiful latte art on my drinks. The vibe is perfect here, plenty of comfy places to sit, study, socialize, or even take in a nice day outside on the patio. The food is also really great. They serve full on lunch and breakfast here, not just pastries. Give Detour a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
An interesting coffee shop, to say the least. A bit out of the way, so it's quite easy to miss. The lattes they serve here really hit the spot. I came here for a social event I was attending. I took the metro and jogged here from Virginia Square, the nearest one. There is some parking outside the spot, but I didn't bring my car so I skipped it altogether. Lines and wait are both reasonable enough. I ended up with the Campfire which is a specialty latte and comes with mocha and caramel flavors. I forgot to snap photos but it also comes with two semi-roasted marshmallows on sticks, placed on top of the cup just so; I thought they were a nice touch. The latte was pretty good, the marshmallows so-so. I also got a brownie because I saw it and thought to myself, why not let's indulge my sweet tooth a little; it was nothing special and bit overpriced honestly. But the Campfire latte was good, so I'll let it slide. The decor and ambiance was quaint and rather original -- for instance, they had three adjacent set of (different colored) doors hanging on the walls for display. Overall, cool spot, if a bit out the way. First time here, but I liked it overall.
This. Establishment is pretty cute for where it’s nested directly across the street from a gas station. I will say when you enter it’s a completely different world. (It was too busy and crowded to get the details of the ambiance.) I ordered “ the reliable” and the empanadas. The empanadas are an immediate NO for me. They are Not authentic tasting, the crust and filling was not desirable. Thankfully the good ol “reliable” sandwich was great. Big portion🙌🏾 And the breakfast potatoes, delish! I also ordered a latte with almond milk… I was hoping to get a cute mug with latte art like what I’ve seen in other reviews.. but instead I received a Togo cup🫤 and a latte that had so much foam it was basically a cappuccino 🥹 (I don’t like cappuccinos lol). After getting through the thick layer of foam, I WILL SAY! It was delicious! I didn’t get a chance to see where they get their espresso from. But it was GOODT🤌🏾 I wanted to order another before leaving… ☺️ Overall, it was a cute experience. The seating is not your tradition wait for someone to seat you…. It’s a “see a table and grab the table” vibe. I sat with some pretty cool couples. The staff were nice, efficient and friendly. The service was Quick! I’d go back… wouldn’t recommend going with a big group. But definitely a cute spot!
Came here on a Saturday for breakfast and coffee. I ordered the old reliable but asked for it on a croissant. I also ordered a mocha. The sandwich was $10 and coffee $5.50 which J thought was reasonable. Sandwiches come with home style potatoes. I felt this coffee shop was average. Sandwich was good but nothing too unique just your average bacon egg and cheese. The coffee I felt was slightly weak and slightly sour. I've definitely had better coffee. The vibe of the place was great, 90s rock playing, booths and lounging chairs. The staff were super nice. Parking is a nightmare. They only have about 6-7 spaces so ended up having to parking about 2 blocks down on the street. Overall, i would say this place is average. Nothing to write home about but decent food and coffee is okay if you're looking for a place to hang out.
I have been here a few times to get work done while waiting for my car to be fixed. The staff is incredibly kind and friendly, the food is beyond delicious, and the coffee is fantastic! I love the relaxed and calm vibe and there is plenty of seating. I will absolutely be back.
Unassuming on the outside but 100% worth the visit!! The coffee is fantastic and the food was fresh and came out quickly. Service was so pleasant. The food was fantastic. We had an egg BLT and the beef empanadas, both were flavorful and fresh!! A lovely place to spend some time for a slow morning -- highly recommend a visit for some delicious breakfast and coffee.
This place is AMAZING! Great atmosphere, amazing coffee! The best avocado toast I ever had! You need to check this place out!
