Attended a private tea party with about 10 others at the beginning of December. The building is lovely and the tea service was beautiful. Delicious teas and treats! The owner gave gave us some interesting history on the building and helpful etiquette tips once we were all seated. Huge selection of loose teas! It was a truly lovely afternoon! Highly recommend!

Tried to eat there! We were notified once we arrived that we needed reservations! Absolutely no where on their website did they indicate that reservations were necessary! Very disappointed!!

I was part of a group that rented out a room for a couple of hours. This was a great experience. They gave us two teas to try out and they were both delicious. Also we’re given some snacks and desserts such as scones which were also delicious. I am personally not much of a tea drinker but this tea was fantastic and the experience by the staff was incredible. Would recommend trying this place out if you are in the area.

The owner does an excellent job making you feel welcome and her service is impeccable. She offers many fine teas and well thought-out menus. They vary month to month. Don't miss this place!

I had heard good things about this interesting place and was excited to try something different and unique with my family and friends. However, my experience left me feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and upset. As I was unfamiliar with the restaurant or menu items, I mentioned my daughter’s peanut allergy when the salad was served. The lady acted like I was supposed to know the menu (even though it was never presented to us) and also somewhat lectured me on the safety of peanuts and cross-contamination risk. As a parent of a peanut allergic child, I understand what cross-contamination is (and I truly appreciate the disclaimer) but I felt like she was demeaning in her response to me. This conversation resulted in her making me sign a hand written waiver stating I knew she could not guarantee the food had no trace peanuts. Before she made me sign, she did ask if my daughter would still be eating. I told her she would not eat her own, but I would still sign the waiver because I would let her taste some of my sandwich. She quickly pointed out that if she eats any sandwich, she would be charged for a meal. Anyway, the food and tea were very tasty, but the situation should have been handled much differently. It ended up being $25 per person (tax and gratuity I guess—the hand written post-it receipt did not have a break down) and I’m just in disbelief that this is how she does business. What should have been a quick, private conversation turned into a big ordeal for other patrons to see.

Today was my second time coming to this establishment. The food is excellent but because of the owners decorum she makes ppl feel uncomfortable and on edge. I brought (3) friends and one of my guests has a peanut allergy. Well my guests mother asked to see if peanuts were going to be served (yes we are aware that most foods could be processed around peanuts). The owner became passive aggressive with us because we did not notify her of the allergy at booking, we proceeded to just ask what was being served that day - no menu is available, look at the site. It ended by my friend having to sign a hand written release stating that her foods could have trace nuts. Now I know that this will not change someone that is her age but I do want you to know that you will pay $25 a person to be ill at ease.

All The way from Pennsylvania to have tea with my friend Mary. The service was so personal! The proprietor even took the time to sit with us and have a cup of tea of her own. She shared the history of the home and the area. The food was beautifully presented and delicious I will definitely be back!!

This was a wonderful experience. My sister and I took our mother for Mother’s Day. It was a great and different mother/daughter outing. The food was good. And the tea amazing!

Camella's is an Abingdon staple. I've been there many times since they opened, and each visit leaves me feeling more refreshed than the last. Carrie, the owner, is an incredibly kind woman with a hearty sense of humor and a thorough knowledge of tea. She cares deeply for her customers and is clearly passionate about her business. Nowhere else in Abingdon has loose leaf tea to match her quality, especially with such a variety of flavors. The menu changes each month to match the season. For any worried about leaving on an empty stomach - you will not! The portions combined with the tea are actually quite filling, and eating slowly aids digestion. I consider Camella's afternoon tea a transformative, meditative experience, and cannot recommend it highly enough. The adjoined ice cream and gift shop are also sweet places to stop and perfect for holiday gifts!

The lavender tea is excellent, it was my first time trying it and I highly recommend stopping in and trying some! I can't wait to go back and have hot tea and sandwiches in the beautiful tea pots and cups. The lady that runs the place is so lovely, the kind of person that puts a smile on your face. She is the definition of southern hospitality, she was just so friendly and kind, I wish more people were like this.

Sadly, we were unable to enjoy this experience. We were met with numerous rules. They do not want you to bring your baby. They fear it could be burned. ( I'm not sure how other restaurants and businesses serve hot beverages with out this rule. 🙄) They will not accommodate an extra party member. Forget Southern hospitality. If they do accommodate them the extra party member must eat. As we were advised " everyone at the table must eat". On Saturday I had an 1130 reservation. The front door was still locked so we entered thru the gift shop. We were greeted by a young man who told us someone would be right with us. Finally, a woman arrived and she did not seat us. She began advising us of the rules referenced above. I was quite taken aback. Here's what happened: I had a reservation for 4 people. My brother was given the day off unexpectedly and drove his family there from Tazewell, Va adding the extra person. He said he'd wait elsewhere or just sit with us while we ate. That was not allowed. You must eat. We agreed that was fine. We were then lectured about no babies as a general rule since they could get burned by the tea. We advised that wouldn't be a problem but she continued to discuss the concern. I couldn't stand anymore of her nonsense. Advised her it was stupid and we left. What utter nonsense. My 8 year old niece was sad she didn't get her tea party. Today, we had our own. It was most fun. Don't waste your time here. Go across the street to the juice bar White Birch. It's amazing. There's mom's and kids and babies and awesome waitresses and wonderful food. I even saw a mom with her baby on her lap and a cup of hot coffee. (Gasp) 🙄🙄😲

had the most wonderful 'high tea' here in a charming, throw-back atmosphere. the 'home-made' cool tea i selected was the best i've had. a lovely experience which i will repeat when i return to abingdon! if you haven't been to england, this is a good replica!
