Lovely place! Extended menu, great service and environment! Coming back again, only trick is to find parking but is worth it!
I've been coming here regularly for well over 20 years, way before I had my kids who are all now in college. It is consistently a great place to go for breakfast, coffee, cool ambience, and friendly, non-stuffy service. I would guess I've dined and there well over 500 times and I can not remember a bad experience. Whenever I have friends from out of town, that's where we go to show them the best of casual/cool Houston. Whenever my family wants breakfast/lunch in the weekends... it's where we go. I watched the owner and other guests (as well as myself) have babies who grew up into adults, some of us got divorced, some left town and came back. It truly is a Houston staple, a tradition. I see a new generation of young folks coming regularly now and that makes me so happy. Not many restaurants can be successful for 28 years - that takes a lot of magic! If I ever leave Houston, it will truly be one of the top three things that I miss. Thanks Dan. You have made a difference in the story of so many people's lives! Food =love 🥰
Love the chicken struggle bowl. Great, chill place to work or eat with friends. Only complaint is parking can sometimes be a pain, but that's Montrose for you.
Great dive bar with outdoor seating and a very casual vibe. In the montrose area which you can always count on good people watching.
I enjoyed the food, I got the “huevos a la probrezo, it was amazing! Has a full bar and nice clean environment. Great music and the manager was very professional.
The almond croissant was a lovely end to my experience ❤️ the place is beautiful and the staff was really friendly ☺️ the soft shell crab sandwich was OK. I enjoyed it but it didn't make me go WOOW which I was hoping for. Were my expectations too high? I want to go back and try their buttermilk chicken. Hopefully that'll change my review 🙏 PS: for some reason it makes me sad to give this place 3 stars because it feels like it should deserve more but I also have to be honest about the one dish I had...
Decent coffee. Nice menu. Really good staff.
Honestly, the owner is always there and is super rude. I’d go a lot more if he didn’t look over my shoulder at my screen and ask me if I bought food today every time i come in.
Great place to come at any time of the day. The chai latte is great and I'm a big fan of the various pizzas, and the cheeseburger in paradise meal. Lots of great seating options both inside and outside too.
Had a cappuccino here on a rainy day. Fresh food and coffee. Enjoyed the environment for casual catching up with a friend. Planning to go back as a remote working location.
This spot is my go-to for brunch. I absolutely love the chilequiles - the portion comes in a big bowl and it’s very well ratioed in terms of huevos:tortillas: frijoles: extras (avocado, bacon, etc.) The ONLY reason it’s not 5 stars is the constant feeling and pressure from management to get out as soon as you swallow your last bite. Multiple times over the last few years, my friends and I have recounted the many ways that they’ve told us to leave after enjoying a meal. I understand trying to make room for other parties, but it could be done with more tact/empathy. “Hi y’all, I hope y’all are enjoying your meals. We have a packed house today so if possible we would appreciate you accommodating for future parties.” - something like that. Other than that- I love the space(s) both indoors and outdoors. Great for parties/ bigger groups. Coffee is great as well. Iced vanilla latte with oat milk is my go-to.
One of my favorite places to go with an eclectic menu! This place can be a coffee shop/restaurant/bar all at once! Great atmosphere and usually lowkey.
I love the vibe of the place and the food is outstanding! My ONLY complaint is sometimes, well, most of the time, the music is just too damn loud! I understood this place to be like a coffee house that serves a full fledge menu - typically coffee bars are quiet and peaceful like Agora across the street! This place is loud and obnoxious! My business partner and I met there for a meeting and ended up having to leave because the music was so loud that we couldn’t hear ourselves speak! What is with these restaurants doing this nowadays? Please…STOP!
Beautiful cafe with great coffee and food. The staff was awesome too. I will definitely be back!
Great coffee. Espresso martinis. And everything on the menu from breakfast tacos, veggie burgers, quiche, it’s ALL fantastic. Love the dog friendly patio out back and they always have good tunes jamming. Great Montrose spot
It's not a good place to hang out with your friends. The owner was in a horrible mood like "order more food or leave the place". Food is not the best. You'd better want to try cafe Agora or Common Bond.
Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, and delicious drinks! Perfect for date night.
Had a late brunch on the patio at Brazil Cafe. Ordered the French Toast, the Breakfast Pizza (not pictured), an Irish Coffee, and Spicy Mezcal Margarita. Excellent atmosphere inside and out. The establishment was busy but not overly crowded at 12:30PM on a Saturday afternoon. Order was taken within 8 minutes and we seated ourselves. Handful of open seats on the patio and plenty open indoors at the time.. The French toast was yummy. In the future I'd like to see a bit more egg soakage on the bread since the middle was not saturated with the cooked egg mixture. The Breakfast Pizza was delicious, eggs and all! The description had my attention because who doesn't love breakfast and who doesn't love pizza? The pizza crust they make here is simply amazing. I didn't throw a single piece of the crust away. The mixed drinks did not disappoint and I could of easily ordered a few more rounds. Don't change whatever you're doing with the Spicy Mezcal Margarita! The drink was so well balanced, like I said could of easily drank another 2.. 4... 6 of them. Parking: had to park a few streets over on Harold and walk over to the establishment due to the parking being full. Will be back to try some of their non-brunch items!
Cafe Atmosphere style that serves flavourful food. The Fig and Prosciutto pizza was sweet-luscious and the Oyster Mushroom bowl was surprisingly spicey and vegan friendly, both dishes were tasty. The empanadas and tamale are decent but nothing that you can't get anywhere else.
This place is so wonderful. One of the hidden treasures tucked away in Montrose area. Best caramel pistachio coffee I’ve ever tasted. Amazing! #forever
