Great food!! Great atmosphere!!! Great people!!! Had to swing by and grab a triple waller and have a beer while I was back in Amarillo!
First time dining and service and food were amazing the flavor!
Amazing burgers, good atmosphere that's rich in its own history. Beer selection could be better.
Great food & awesome employees
Staff was friendly, burger was OK but nothing special, fries were a disaster. Either way overcooked or the oil really needed to be changed. Medium dark brown color with the consistency of balsa wood. I know this place has good reviews but probably wouldn't go back
Wow.....great small dive for burgers and fries. Great prices and pleasant staff. If lived there would go again.
After selling our home in Houston, We travel USA FULL-TIME IN a motorhome. This great little "Hidden Gem" of a burger joint / dive Bar Did NOT Disappoint!! Truly In MHO... ONE OF THE BEST BURGERS & FRIES WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!! THE "FIXINGS" WERE INCREDIBLY FRESH, BEAUTIFUL & DELICIOUS (BRIGHT RED TOMATOES... NOT pale pink tomatoes with no flavor:)!! YEA!! IF U R EVER IN AMARILLO... DO NOT MISS YOUR CHANCE TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT....if u miss an opportunity to eat here, all I can say is: "BLESS YOUR HEART"!!!
Good food and cold beer!!
Always delicious probably best burgers in town and fries one of my favorites
If you want a real hole in the wall kind of place that is part of Route 66 history then Golden light is the place. We've eaten here many times and the burgers are always great.
Amazing burgers! Amazing staff! Very friendly and great food. Will be back again thank yall!
Great service. Great food. Thank you. 03-10-2023 same great place. Chili cheese burger is the way to go. Best fries in town. Thank you again.
Food is great! The atmosphere feels like a burger dive bar. The restaurant is historic and a treasure to most Amarilloans. The bar connected is open at night.
Wow, epic. Saw Pink Fuzz and Trench Rat play there. Pretty nice time.
Really good experience! Oldest restaurant in Amarillo according to their menu. Still in its original location since the glory days of Route 66! The atmosphere is amazing. Really classic, very American style cafe/diner. The folks there were friendly and the food was great. It’s relatively small, so don’t be bummed if you have to wait for a table. The food is NOT FAST (and that’s perfectly fine). For reference, a burger took between 20-25 minutes but it was worth the wait. And it was pretty rushed so I don’t blame them. The few drawbacks: my order of fries and chili got to me way after I was done with my burger. They must have missed it. Can’t blame them, it was pretty packed. Understandable, but unpleasant nonetheless. I wasn’t a fan of the chili, but hey, that is not an instant DQ. Different strokes for different folks. What was IMO unanimously GREAT was the burger! I had the Waller Burger. The fries were a bit on the flimsy side but very hot, tasty and not soggy either. They close at 22:00 but by 21:00 they will not let more people in, so keep that in mind. Great food, good atmosphere and sweet southern hospitality. Will return!
Amazing food, large portions and definitely leave full.
Come be a part of the past and history. Located on the original route 66 Great service, great food. Its a little small including restroom but please take into account when it was built 1966!!
Maybe we were in on an off day. Inside of the building was full of smoke. Hard to breathe but decided to try it out because we were told the food was good. We had the Halfway to Albuquerque. It's Chili in a tortilla with fritos on the plate. There was NO thought put into this. It is not a burrito just because its put in a shell. Having just traveled to Lower 48 & driving the mother road this place was a regret. Service was prompt but if you're looking for a dirty dive with mediocre food this is it. Very disappointing.
I've lived in Amarillo most of my life, but I've travelled extensively. This burger is the best burger I've ever had. I grew up eating the Waller, technically their signature, but my dad swears by their chili, and my brother gets the shroom burger. Coyote Bluff is a close second, dont waste your time with blue sky (unless golden and coyote are packed, sky isnt bad just not up there with these)
Sometimes there is nothing better in the world than a greasy burger and a basket of perfectly fried fries. If I lived in Amarillo, I'd weigh around 300lbs because of this place
