After much searching for the best coffee shops in Charleston, we ended up trying out The Rise. We got a Lavender Honey iced latte and a vanilla almond iced latte, which both were very tasty. Cute and cozy interior space as well as additional seating outside on their patio. Will certainly be back when visiting the area again!

I was underwhelmed by my breve, price was fine though and it got the job done.

I love the atmosphere of this coffee shop but the coffee/espresso/cold brew is wayyyy too acidic. I have tried it multiple times and each time I end up throwing away my $7 coffee because I cannot drink it. I used to LOVE their coffee back in 2021, but now I cannot drink it anymore. The bagels are good though.

I intended to stop by for coffee and a pastry. The pastry rack was empty. “Are you out of pastries?” “Yes.” (They had a jar of dog treats, but I wasn’t so inclined). “I’ll just have a small coffee.” “Sorry, we don’t have any drip coffee. Will an Americano do?” “I guess so.” Americano isn’t my favorite, but it’s okay in a pinch. Not this one. $4 for a cup of brown boiled water. Two sips, and then into the nearest trash bin. And no, it was not approaching closing time. I walked a couple of blocks and got great coffee with a delicious pastry, delivered with great customer service at another shop.

Always a pleasure to support local, independent coffee shops, and this one doesn't disappoint. I enjoyed my cappuccino and will return another day to try the delicious-looking pastries. Great ambiance and conveniently located near King Street shopping.

If you’re looking for a quick pick-me-up, then look no further then THE RISE. Nestled next to the restoration hotel, and located just slighyy to my west of King St. and the shops, Rise keeps the coffee and espresso flowing. The store itself is small but does have a few chairs for sitting and sipping. However, there is an open courtyard perfect for chatting and sipping. The staff is very friendly and works fast even when the lines get long and they will. ☕️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This coffee shop has a pretty environment and fairly clean. Staff are friendly. The lattes are very good. The espresso is on the acidic side. The coffee shop also has flavored lattes.

Charleston is not exactly a coffee town but Rise is definitely a coffee spot! Great patio to sit on. Great service. And, most importantly, really good coffee!

Vanilla almond latte is advertised being $5.25 on the black board. Why was I charged $6.94?

4.00 for a tiny single shot macchiato is ludicrous. And dreadfully sour coffee. Really disappointing. Loved the side garden tables, though.

The drink tastes amazing but I was disappointed that my cup wasn’t filled all the way. Outside of that the place is great.

Stopped by with family for pastries, coffee, and tea. I had the Charleston blend tea and it was yummy. It tasted like it had bergamot and vanilla notes. Pastries and coffee were also very good. Seating inside was very limited, although if you were on your own you could probably get a single seat at the window and people watch. We sat in their outside seating area - really beautiful.

Really great pastry selection, however, the staff seemed to be overworked. I know staffing issues are happening everywhere but based on what I saw the barista was working with only 1 group head. As a barista myself I know that's simply not adequate to keep up with a busy Saturday morning rush. The other barista seemed to be learning on the job and on the brink of a meltdown- and I'm not bashing them- I would've been in the same position. I just hope the staff is taken care of/ paid living wage considering the situation they were working in. I removed a star because management seemed to have failed their staff a little the morning I visited.

I love to frequent coffee shops and try new cafes; and I am especially drawn to ones with beautiful outdoor seating. I had been wanting to check out The Rise for a while, as I recently relocated to Charleston, and was so happy I did! I tried a specialty iced coffee and got some work accomplished on my computer; all surrounded by nature and tucked away in a little nook! I will definitely stop there again when I am downtown!
