I was charged $104.00 for 2 cappuccinos, 1 single espresso, 1 iced coffee, 2 waters, 2 banana breads and 2 croissants. Absolute rip off to the point now that I look back she charged me 2 to 3 times over again. DO NOT GO THERE!.

We got two coffees and two cans of sparkling water and paid $32+. Completely ridiculous. The prices written on the wall menu are not what she deceptively rings up. She overcharged for every single item. Do not go here unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for a small and medium coffee/tea that isn’t worth it.

I hesitate to write a review for this coffee shop but after reading everyone else's reviews, I feel like I have to. My wife and I stopped in this past weekend with the anticipation of getting a really good cup of coffee. We were pleasantly surprised with the coffee shop's architecture, displays, cleanliness, etc. There were a few other patrons there beside us (maybe 4 others) to whom the Owner (at least I think it was the owner) was speaking to. We waited our turn and I ordered (1) Iced Latte and (1) Iced Spiced Chai Latte. Much to my surprise, the cup sizes were comical at best. The small looked like a "Dixie cup", the medium - maybe a small at any other coffee shop, and the large...well, you can imagine how small that was. I didn't ask the price (it's coffee, right?) and ordered two medium cups. Much to my surprise, both drinks were ready almost immediately and served to us. I thought, "I didn't hear or see the espresso machine turn on." Turns out, the drinks were poured out of pre-made containers and milk was added to them with a lot of ice. Shockingly, the pricing came to $8+/ea. (before tax). Let me repeat, $8/ea for a pre-made, iced latte and iced chai latte? I get that it's Newport but REALLY? For those prices, the coffee better be exceptional and the portions, generous. Neither were true of this coffee shop. Not even Starbucks charges that amount for their coffee (which is 100% better by the way). Yes, next time we will take the extra walk to Starbucks if you're asking. Steer clear of this shop unless your 100' yacht is parked in the slip next door, you enjoy overrated coffee, and LOUD conversation. I would've posted a photo of the coffees but my camera lens doesn't zoom in that close.

Ignore the prices at the shop. They charge you a dollar an ounce… my 8 ounce iced caramel was very subpar. I don’t believe she was truly on the food network…

Heavily overpriced for a very mediocre coffee. $9 for a medium coffee that tasted of mostly milk. Ordered a mocha latte and the “mocha” was actually hersheys chocolate syrup … for $9. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Great little place tucked away. Managed to get a coffee without waiting 20-30 minutes like everywhere else on a Saturday morning. Yes prices are not cheap, but I also value my time. Seemed like they were pretty on par with other coffee shops around for the most part. You’re in Newport. Coffee was solid and the pastry was great. Loved the interior of the place and plenty of room to sit and enjoy the coffee. The best part was the owner who was so pleasant even while being busy. Highly recommend if you are willing to maybe pay a little more for good coffee without having to wait a long time.

Very over-priced and coffee is mediocre. Pastries are OK but not worth the cost. 5 pastries and 2 large lattes $65.00. You can get a good breakfast for 4 with free refill coffee for same price or less.

Super friendly owner. Lots of options for treats and coffee, of course! My danish was delicious! The owner said she bakes everything which is always a plus for me. Great atmosphere. Wish I had time to sit and enjoy the place but glad I was able to stop in.

I read a lot of the reviews before I decided to post mine, I happen to agree with all the negative reviews, the coffee is way overpriced for coffee that is just average she is also way overpriced with her baked goods, I cannot imagine she gets a repeat clientele with the outrageous prices she charges. It truly is a tourist trap and I went there offseason.$6 for a cup of coffee? She is definitely taking advantage of people and the area where her store is located

The owner was hospitable, but I paid $10 for a cortado. Apparently the single shot version of it is $8 and there was an extra $2 for the 2nd shot. I communicated this on square directly with the owner but I didn’t get a clear answer why the single shot cortado which is much less milk than the 16 oz latte was $8. It is by far the most expensive cortado I ever paid for - even compared to other metros such as: DC, NYC, Boston, San Francisco, Paris, Berlin, or Amsterdam. It was good, but not $10 good and I would never visit there again.

The location and owner conversation were both quite nice and really are what saved the place for me. I spent $9 on a 16oz latte (2 shots), which is something I’ve never done before and pray I never do again. it was honestly kind of heartbreaking. I’ve never had to pay extra for a shot of espresso if the latte is already at 16oz at any other coffee shop (Boston, NYC, Toronto, no where). The espresso also didn’t have much flavor to separate it from the milk so it was all kinda flavorless, making it quite disappointing for the price. I also noticed a large plain coffee was like 5.50 which is something I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere in my life before (normally it’s like 3.50 max?). Fun spot but can’t justify the price sadly.

Go elsewhere or Starbucks down the road. A 10 Oz. standard black coffee for $6 is ridiculous, regardless where you are. Given the coffee is average at best, this place needs to relax their pricing

DO NOT GO HERE I THOUGHT THEY CLOSED DOWN... wish they stayed closed the way she steals peoples hard earned money. $8 for the tiniest coffee is such a rip off.

The parking attendant told us to go to Coffee Grinder, as the owner is the hardest working person in Newport, starting at 6 am every day! The owner was the only one there, even though the coffee shop was packed at 4:15 pm. The coffee was really good, and the world-renown, homemade banana bread was delicious (it was recently featured on a cooking show). Apparently the owner personally makes most of the delicious, home-made pastries. Yum! Adorable shop in the middle of Newport’s shopping district.

I read the reviews about pricing and figured everyone was just nuts. Unfortunately my 8 oz latte ended up being like $7+ and my tiny pastry was also $7+. So it was an extra $2 for a double versus single. Even though every other high end coffee shop typically provides a double automatically and I normally pay $5 for the same thing. It’s nice in there, the owner obviously has a passion and knowledge for what she does, but there’s an air of pretentiousness that her way is the only way. If you like a darker robust roast, you’ll enjoy the coffee. But probably not the price.
