Sophisticated and clean coffee shop with friendly staff and great coffee. I got an iced vanilla latte with almond milk and really enjoyed it.
For some starting context, I’ve been to this location a handful of times and each visit is pretty consistent with the below positive and negatives. The food is good but is definitely irrationally priced. For atmosphere, every time it’s always so unacceptably dirty and grimy (photo was taken on a slow Sunday afternoon, only maybe a dozen people here). It’s pretty apparent they do not clean every day and I sure wish I could figure out the cleaning schedule so I can finally make it a point to come on a day it’s been freshly cleaned to actually enjoy my time here. On top of the uncleanliness, the front line employees always have this aura of dissatisfaction about them. I won’t blame them for their moods because usually an employees mood stems from management, but just be warned that nothing comes with a smile here. As for the coffee, it’s definitely some of the top in town for quality and range of options. They are pushing the limits again on price, but for now it’s still worth it.
Cute spot. Could lower the lights a bit. Staff was generally friendly. Chia bowl was great. A bit pricey but nice w healthy options. Also, not sure if it's policy but the workers were standing around multiple times and had customers come up and get their own food even if they were outside instead of just bringing it to them, thought that was odd....one worker said "oh they'll pick it up" even though they knew who the customer was and certainly had the capability to deliver it. That was definitely not a good look on the service side.
Our top 2 favorite coffee /breakfast places in the Wilmington NC area. Quality products, great ambiance, and friendly staff. We'll return.
Nice aesthetic and really good iced coffee and selection. This was my wife’s favorite coffee shop of all that we visited in Wilmington, but I have to knock them a star because this location is not wheelchair accessible (I’ve tried to update their About tab because it shows they are). Both the front and side doors are a large step up. The neighboring door has a shorter step, but still isn’t accessible.
Housed next to Bijou Park, Drift is an appealing location inside and out. It’s a bright, inviting space with a solid array of breakfast options. You can go light with a yogurt or toast, but you can also dig into a hearty sandwich, burrito, or bowl. The coffees may not have a lot of flavor options, but they do make some syrups in-house. My wife and I opted for a bodega sandwich and pistachio latte and a breakfast burrito and raspberry vanilla latte, respectively, as well as a sunrise smoothie (mango, banana, vanilla, coconut milk, and orange) to share. Most of the food came out promptly, but the smoothie got lost in the shuffle, a mistake quickly remedied when I pointed it out. The food and drink quality left no room for complaint. The burrito held together well despite being stuffed with deliciousness (egg, cheese, chorizo, black bean, cilantro crema). The raspberry vanilla latte featured a vanilla-raspberry-coconut foam with bits of real fruit, and the smoothie was refreshing. That said, Drift’s prices are definitely on the high side, and they also keep quite busy. The hard-working staff seemed up to the task during our visit, but this is definitely not a “sit and chill” coffee shop. Overall, Drift makes for a good downtown breakfast option. It’s too expensive to be a regular stop for most, but the location and ingredient quality are compelling.
Good coffee, clean and bright interior. Didn’t try the food this time but the menu looked solid. Will be back but until then, glad we stopped by.
Excellent coffee! And beautiful ambiance
I was a little disappointed in this place. I feel there is potential and will probably be back, but my first experience wasn't the best. The menu had a great variety of vegetarian options and I couldn't just pick one thing, so I ordered two! I got the avocado, egg, and cheese sandwich and the chia pudding. For the sandwich, it was good flavor. My only disappointment was they forgot the tomato jam and that is my favorite on eggs. I feel like it would have tasted so much better if they would have added that original ingredient that was listed to be on it. For the chia pudding, that was a bigger disappointment. The pudding was like paste! I could barely get my spoon in it to take a bite. It was the consistency of old Oatmeal and my fruit seemed to be on the border of going bad (blueberries shriveling). It had the potential to be good, but it just wasn't. I don't know if I picked a bad container of it, but overall, I was disappointed. The atmosphere is super cute and clean and I love their commitment to environmentally friendly containers.
Fast and wonderful latte.
The veggie burrito is amazing!
Service was friendly and quick. Delicious food. Alot of gluten free options.
Awesome food. Good energy. Would recommend for a good breakfast and coffee!
I’m pretty picky when it comes to coffee and this was very good. The Cortdao I got was very good and the location was great.
Ordered a breakfast sandwich that looked very tiny, but ended up being very filling and it tasted great. The iced coffee had a raspberry foam that was absolutely amazing.
A little different and very good. Right by the little walkway park so you can sit outside by the fish sculpture.
For a small Cafe, they have tasty breakfast options (especially the egg burrito) and coffee.
LOVE the bodega breakfast sandwich. Be warned the pistachio latte has chunks of pistachio in it.
So many gluten free options! I had the gluten free banana bread and the bodega sandwich with gf bread and a chai latte, amazing!! My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito (not gf) with orange juice and loved it as well!
Got a cold brew and strawberry pop tart. So good! Great way to start the day. Chill and friendly!
