I’ve been coming here for years (and years at the previous location too) for a variety of pet needs. From the products to the on site grooming, Muttigans is great! They always treat my fur babies well. My Lily LOVES the groomer. They all get top notch care but, she’s the only one who enjoys being groomed. My other two are short haired dogs so they aren’t hard for me to tend to myself but Lily is St Bernard and needs her coat tended to. Lily struts out with a smile and shows off her bandana every time!
Great vibe, my dog is clean and I left with a coffee. Josh fit us in when they were pretty busy. Caring staff, was very helpful with some of the issues I was inquiring about.
This place always has my dogs food and the staff are wonderful.
Come here every now and then, and they're always friendly. Coffee and dogs, what more could you ask for? Highly recommend for dates!
Staff, (Stormy), was super helpful! Helped me set up grooming appointments, pick out gifts for a friend's pet and a couple of these coffee wood sticks for my Great Pyranees pups!

I came to Muttigans looking for a solution for my then 13 year old lab who had trouble getting up and moving around. We are a family of labs and know 13/14 is a long life for a lab. After speaking with an employee who suggested CBD - we tried it and have been using it for 2 years now. I am happy to say our 15 year old lab is doing great and thriving. At his last vet appointment, we were told he had the bloodwork of a 10 year old lab. I am not a medical specialist but just want to share with others!! We will continue to use CBD. Thanks Muttigans!

Amazing coffee. But mostly a high end dog food shop. Offers grooming services. Coffee is so good!!
On December 7th I took my dog to Muttigans. The girl was very nice. I had called a week before and made the appointment. I was asked what type of dog she was and what did I need to have done. I told her that she was a maltipoo and she needed the works. She told me it would be $59.00. So we went to grab breakfast and then we went back. I took the dog outside and my husband paid. She rang him up and told him it would be $90.00. She failed to tell us about the poodle fee! He paid it and we went home. When we got home we checked out the grooming and we discovered a sore on her head and a sore on her side. She had no problems with any of these. She's been chewing the spot on her side and pulling out her hair. We had to have my daughter trim her hind legs, muzzle & ears. About two days later she started to get black marks around her genital areas and down her front paws. I had to wait to post this because I was so upset I now have to go to the vets office to find out what it is. I hope you have a better experience than I did
Muttigans does a decent job with our dachshunds. However there has been a lot of staff turnover which doesn’t lead to consistency. I tried to make my next appointment after a recent grooming and I was told call the following week. This supposedly is the manager!? Also, to me, Muttigans’ prices are going through the roof, but perhaps that is not unique for groomers in this area. $171 for 2 tweenie dachshunds plus a nail trim for a 3rd seems excessive. And of course I feel obliged to tip the groomer 20% since they do work very hard.
Muttigans is a pet store with a coffee bar. You dog is welcome to visit with you. The staff is friendly and good for a chat. They serve decent coffee. We just had their drop coffee. They offer a good range of drinks. They have a good sized sitting area to enjoy your beverage of choice.

Cute pet supply store but I will look elsewhere for grooming. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground. I took my Golden Retriever in for the works and I always say make sure she still looks like a golden retriever when I come back. If you have a golden you know what that means. You want them still to have that beautiful long coat just trimmed, thinned, and clean. One time she basically looked like she had a bath and her feet trimmed up. Her hair was still matted behind her ears and she was shedding so today I told them I wanted her thinned out more but not cut short..make sure she still looks like a golden. There is an instrument that will thin out the undercoat but leave the topcoat long and brushed..Maybe they don't have this certain brush because today I came back and she looks like a Labrador retriever...which would be fine if she was one. She has no fringe left on her at all and her hair is cut so short...shorter than a puppy. The girl at the front desk went back to tell the groomer and she only came back with a message that that's what she thought I wanted. She wouldn't come out and talk to me personally, she didn't apologize or offer a discount or any thing to make up for the mistake. So I will not be back for grooming. But I still enjoy a walk through Swansboro on Saturday mornings and stop for a coffee and a treat. ☕

Muttigans is a boutique pet store and cafe. You can bring your dog(s) into the store to shop for upscale food brands, treats, leashes, collars, harness, toys, and more. Then, you can get yourself a treat of coffee or ice cream at the counter. This is the second Muttigans store -- the original is in Emerald Isle and is larger with a bit more selection. Owners are very nice folks who treat their dogs like family.
