Nice little coffee shop with great, comfy, inviting atmosphere any time of the year. It was really nice having this place open late while I was working for my degree. They also just have *really* good coffee. Service is quick and not awkward at all. Everything I like about a coffee shop! The wifi is pretty good too, and the password is written right on the wall so you don't have to ask anybody, lol.

Stale croissant. Sign in restroom advises patrons to notify staff if facilities are not clean. (The staff does not inform themselves, apparently.)

Such a wonderful place to visit and share with friends. Some of the best conversations of my life have happened at these tables and with those that work there. The coffee is divine. I particularly enjoy a large Nitro Brew. I have experience such incredible service at this location. Travis is always a kind professional. Gabe is a tremendous person who shares much wisdom about Syracuse beyond just the exceptional Recess Coffee. Courtney has been a constant source of enjoyment and phenomenal service. KT always brings a smile and a consistent, strong work ethic. She also is a remarkable conversationalist, should you be blessed with such an opportunity. The owners of Recess made the decision to make great coffee. They also decided to strive for the kind of employee culture that sells their product with efficiency and knowledge. The kind of culture that is a true testament to the eclectic, sensational, loving, and creative neighborhood that is Westcott on its very best day.
I'm a newer transplant of Syracuse and was DYING to ditch Dunkin and get into some REAL coffee. Got on Google and looked at several places. After seeing the iced coffee pics at Recess, their multiple options and add on's... I went with Recess and they sure did impress! I got a 20oz iced Cold brew with almond milk, Vanilla cold foam, I also added coffee cubes and caramel sauce to it. It was perfect, sweet, full bodied, rich, and made the heart melt with joy as a good coffee should! I also got 2 omegatte everything Bagel sandwiches and had them add turkey and bacon as well and it was the perfect brunch sammy. Haven't had one of those that good in Syracuse since bodega's in NYC. My only thing that will stop me from ordering the whole works regularly(I expect this from coffee shops, so not a huge thing) with all the additions I made to my coffee and Sandwiches(I splurged big time on add on's, I know) is it cost me $27 for the 2 speciality sandwiches and speciality cold brew. But they have my money when I have it. I will be back as often as possible for my morning coffee's!!! Thank you Recess for your quality! It's very appreciated.
Banned for saying good morning? I tip every transaction and visit once or twice a day at least tried to be friendly, today, the manager told me that I “make employees uncomfortable” and am effectively banned. Good coffee, but this location needs to work on its hospitality.
Recess Coffee is a very nice place. I was able to find the location easily, which for me is a huge +. It was relatively clean (for Wescott anyway) and the barista seemed pretty friendly. My drink was out quickly and tasted great, I also didn’t experience the usual affects I have when I drink coffee. This led me to the conclusion that there was not as much caffeine in it as the drinks I usually get from Starbucks and it was nice to have a clear head after my drink. Overall Recess Coffee is 👍.
After growing up in the Bay Area and living in ATX, it is difficult to find food that compares. Recess is my saving grace here in Syracuse. Their service, breakfast, soup and coffee is amazing, every time.

Got a cortado and a croissant. The cortado was really light, and they didn’t ask if I wanted my croissant toasted, they just gave it to me cold and it wasn’t that good.
This was an absolutely adorable little coffee joint. Never been to one as clean and well put together as this one. The music gave the atmosphere a good vibe too.
Excellent atmosphere, reasonable prices, and kind/helpful staff. It doesn't really get much better than that.
Constantly amazing. Really love the vibes here and the staff are all very nice/cool. Super high quality coffee, food, and smoothies. I would recommend this place to my friends, family, and anyone visiting the area

Great place to study, work, and enjoy a cup of coffee. I sometimes come here when I have to work late because I really like how peaceful it is in the shop, and its aesthetics are kinda calming. I also see some students studying late here. They have good seating options so you'll surely find a nice little corner.
Standard cafe food quality, it's good for local. Open later too. Needs way more seating for the small place as it's been full every time I go there.
Cute spot--quick service. Love seeing all kinds of people in such a comfortable environment. Wish there had been more seating inside or at least some heaters for the patio outdoors though
