This place is so amazing, we stayed here for spring break and Vernon was such an amazing host. He went above an beyond for our family and we appreciate him so much!
I think what makes these cabins the best are the owners. They definitely try to go above and beyond. Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed. It was my daughter’s birthday trip and the owners made us a delicious birthday cake and gave us my new favorite brand wine bottle. The only cons is the cabin #2 we stayed in didnt have a lock on the bathroom. Between many friends, it got a little awkward but we made it work. Also, the upstairs loft cubby beds for the kids were awesome but there was no stairs or handles to grab onto to get up or down so it was a bit inconvenient but again, nothing that would deter me from staying here again. We had a great time and didn’t had everything we needed :)
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Shady Brook Inn and I have to say, it was a wonderful experience. The inn itself was charming and well-maintained, with comfortable rooms and plenty of amenities to make our stay enjoyable. But what really made the trip special was our host, Vernon. He was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Whether it was suggesting local restaurants and activities, or helping us with any issues that arose, Vernon was always there to assist. I highly recommend the Shady Brook Inn for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway, and a special thanks to Vernon for making our stay so memorable.
We have family that lives near Shady Brook Inn and Resort, and after driving by the property many times, we finally booked a three-day weekend in the lovely Enchantment Suite. We have known that the property itself is lovely and the location, situated in Taos Canyon between Taos and Angel Fire, is ideal for accessing the area and stunningly beautiful, but we were blown away the warm hospitality of Vernon, the manager and host, unparalleled in our travel experience. We cannot wait to return and will not make the mistake again of booking anywhere else!

Our experience with Shady Brook Inn was excellent. Vern is the perfect host. Our room the Enchanted room on the end was cozy, very clean & I am in love with the floor heating. Best showers ever in a hotel. It was incredibly peaceful and once again our host Vern was absolutely the best! My kid Zannder loved his CD as well
The hospitality was beyond amazing. Vernon and his wife made us feel at home. And some of the best views you could ask for! God bless them! Will definitely come back and recommend to everyone!!
We mistakenly stopped by thinking it was a restaurant but were greeted by Vernon, the property manager. Vernon was delightful and very welcoming.
The Shady Brook Inn was a fantastic find on our trip to New Mexico. Our beautiful house was the top of the line in comfort and beauty and cleanliness . We were able to relax, shop and dine in Taos and also drive to the trails in Carson National Forest. My grandson enjoyed the nearby horseback riding while we enjoyed the cool shady hiking trails. Vernon and Debbie are so friendly. They even left a birthday cake and bottle of wine for us when they found one of us was celebrating a birthday! We will definitely return on our next trip.
Spoke with host investigating future stay. Host was very personable, extremely funny, and the site was very clean and welcoming. I plan to stay soon.
If you’re looking at reviews for this place, doesn’t matter where, there are two constants you’re going to find: really happy customers and - Vernon! Don’t get me wrong, this is a really great property, but there’s no question Vernon and his wife are the heart and soul of the Shady Brook Inn. Vernon (the host and property manager) is a singer songwriter, and it sounds like he’s writing just for you every time you talk to him. He is one of the most genuine, hard working, thoughtful, detailed, courteous, cordial, straight forward people I’ve met in a long time. When someone truly cares about what they do, and the people they serve, it can become an almost transcendental experience. If that sounds silly, just read the reviews. You really won’t be able to find one that doesn’t mention Vernon and how he affects everyone he meets. The property is awesome too. Well built and well maintained, cleanliness and convenience far above average. A chilled bottle of wine was waiting at arrival, along with Vernon’s gracious hospitality. Regular and decaf coffee grounds are waiting to get you through the morning, OJ in the fridge, clean dishes and paper towels ready to go. Lots of little extras that you just don’t find at other places. Comfy beds, several pieces of custom made furniture, it has a unique and homey feel to it that’s really rare. I definitely wasn’t looking for a place with a friendly catering property manager, just a nice property to stay at a reasonable cost. I found both, and the former turned out to be the real value. Book directly through the resort by calling direct, it will save some money and give you a chance to talk to Vernon. There’s no question about Shady Brook Inn that he doesn’t have the answer for. It’s worth the extra drive out of Taos, a living breathing piece of the Enchanted Circe.
WOW!!!! What can I say about our stay?..... seriously so amazing. The second we pulled up , Vern had a sign out front saying "Welcome Heather and Justin"!! We walked in the house and there was a bottle of wine chilling on the counter, along with a birthday cake for our friends 💚 the place was amazing, Vernon was the most impressive host I've ever experienced... we will be back!!!

The townhouse was beautiful. Clean and had a stocked kitchen. Vernon, the manager, was fantastic. We will be staying there again
An amazing gem in Taos. Vern maintains a beautiful property surrounded by mountains and wildlife. You will not be disappointed with your stay here.

This place is the perfect spot. My family spent New Years here and it was the ideal spot. We wanted to ski multiple mountains and the location was perfect for us. Vernon was outstanding from the first call for a reservation to the thank you call when we got back home. We will definitely be staying here again. The Presidential Grand Villa was a perfect home away from home for us and the property entertained the kids and the kids inside us adults. The scenery is beautiful, especially in the snow. This is hassle free and HIGHLY recommend it.
