I hate to share a disappointing experience however the coffee was more like 9th best. The service was great, the atmosphere was kickass, the wait time was zilch. No complaints anywhere except for the drink itself. I got myself and the misses both large mochas with oat milk. I got them to go and didn’t realize how they tasted until I was in the car, so that was unfortunate also. I remember them having great coffee so I will try again, probably won’t get anything with oat milk in it though. The drink tasted like chocolate grass ish. So I’m blaming the oat milk.

This place is perfect for remote workers - plenty of seating and tons of outlets. The rap music was a contrast to the usual melodic cafe tunes but proved easy enough to tune out for concentration. The vegan burrito doesn’t stand tall without the sauce but their craft coffee beverages are 1000% the draw here. I had the macaan which was unique from any other coffee place in KC.

Be careful if you have food allergies, they will begrudgingly do it but treat you like garbage. Not a friendly place to go! Never had someone slam a coffee in front of me and be so rude in my life! Second rate experience!

Second Best Coffee is a adorable cafe with lots of seating and great music taste! They have unique flavors and seasonal drinks. I tried the Blackberry Juniper latte with oatmilk and the Twist of Thyme fizzy matcha drink. The latte was fantastic and the fizzy drink was very interesting, I sweetened it to my liking but it is a very earthy. My friend really enjoyed her nitro cold brew! The baristas were nice and delivered a drinks quickly. I believe they roast in house and make their syrups as well!

This place is called second best, but it is terrific. Definitely one of the top 5 coffee shops in the KC metro.

Coffee is pretty good. The guy with the mullet is a jerk and always acts inconvenienced and rushes you.

Today was my first time visiting this coffee shop. I asked a few questions about their menu items before ordering (since I am not familiar with it) and the cashier seemed irritated and annoyed. After receiving my vanilla latte which had no coffee in it, but was $7.24 I went up to the counter to see if they could add a little more coffee to it because my latte was literally white (no brown whatsoever). Again, the cashier had a really bad attitude for no reason. I was even polite after receiving my coffee for the 2nd time. When I thanked her co-worker for fixing the coffee, she straight ignored me and walked off with an attitude. This place seems to have predominantly white customers and white staff. I am a mixed race woman who is predominately black... Maybe they have something against black people. I don't know, but I would never go here again if their coffee was the last liquid to drink on earth.. I would rather die of dehydration. Avoid this place if you can. There are wayyy better coffee shops out there with real coffee drinks and better service.

Wumbo and whoot, Midwest Modesty at its finest. Get yourself a bacon burrito and smother that mother with Cholula. Treat yo’ self.

Everything made in house. Lots of interesting craft coffees and drinks. Unfortunately they have no sugar-free options. No stevia or monkfruit or even Splenda. No sugar-free syrups either. Barista was rude and smug about not having sugar-free sweeteners available.

Some of the worst coffee I’ve tasted in a long time. Would not recommend

Probably the worst cup of coffee ever. Servers were brusk, no sweetener, loud ethnic music mixed with rap, couldn't hear myself think. Never returning!

This is truly a gem. Some of the best coffee and hands down takes the best espresso drinks in the area. If you love coffee this is a must.

Happy I know about this place! I had a honey lavender latte and the barista was very helpful and kind! This is a great place to get items to-go! The shop is cold and not very cozy, but very neatly decorated. The three stars is on account of some staff members. As I said, the one barista was very kind but another was a bit rude about their card reader not working. While I was working on a project a bit after i bought my coffee, other staff members were loudly talking about some inappropriate topics, loud enough to the point where I could hear them over my sound canceling AirPods with music playing. The topics were sensitive and pretty upsetting to say the least. At one point, every customer in the shop looked directly at them then we looked at each other.

Imagine you have a dirty pot of coffee and you fill it up with hot water- that's what their drip coffee tasted like. It tasted like hot water with a burnt aftertaste. It is the LaCroix of coffee - like someone explaining what coffee is to a person who has never heard or tasted coffee ever in their lives. 2 stars because the building was kinda cool

Great experience here and would highly recommend! I thought the coffee was delicious. The store was also very interesting and nicely decorated. I got a really good vibe from this place, wasn’t too sure since it was in a strip mall and not your usually third wave coffee tiny house or historical building but it didn’t disappoint. The staff were helpful and the service was fast. Also a big bonus was that the restrooms were clean and there is free parking! Would highly recommend this place (even though it is only “second best” lol)

My favorite coffee roaster in Kansas City - always a must stop on the way from the airport to my family's home. Their espresso is some of the best. A bit off the beaten path, and well worth it. Great humans work there, too.
