The food, coffee, location, and space are excellent. But what I really, really love about Anchor Island is the people: they make space for their neighbors (and everyone is a neighbor regardless of your address); they lift up other small businesses; they welcome everyone who walks in the door with big smiles. Anchor is the kind of place that you go back to again and again-- maybe at first for the horchata con espresso, but it doesn't take long before you're going to see your open-hearted friends who just happen to make a really great horchata con espresso.
Weve been coming to Anchor Island for 3 years now! Love the chorizo breakfast bowl! Great coconut horchata iced latte! Welcoming staff! Loved the fresh produce cooler!
This is a place of no judgement and come as you are. It’s a family who takes anyone and welcomes everyone. I was so shy at first and didn’t have knowledge of coffee and they welcomed me and walked me through everything. Now I couldn’t imagine not having the Battista‘s in my life. This coffee shop is a home away from home.
Me and my wife have been coming here off and on for about a year and a half now. It checks all the boxes for us and I’m convinced it’s one of the best coffee shops in America.
Someone told my better half about this place, so we went to check it out. I was really pleased with everything!! I asked for suggestions on a coffee, and the barista suggested something. I told her that would be fine. Then I picked the Verde Chicken off the menu. The coffee was amazing! I wish I could remember the name of it. I will attach a picture, because it was really pretty. I even got a second one to go! The Verde chicken was really good! It was not very spicy, and had great flavor! The mango chutney made it hit different areas of the palate and was very enjoyable! When I went to order my second coffee to go, I stood at the counter and visited with the barista for a minute and learned a little about the place. Then the owner delivered my coffee and told us thank you for coming in. We will 100% be going back. Also, they have a little sliding window, and give a pup cup to people with their dogs! We saw a dog get one, and he was dancing as they handed it out the window! So cute!
Stopped in for coffee & a small bite to eat. Pork tamale and chicken grilled cheese were delicious and perfect for brunch. We chose the Dirty Sunrise latte and a Blackberry latte as well. Both were amazing!! Will definitely be recommending to friends.
Great place to grab a coffee and study or work
A magical experience to recharge your body, mind, and spirit. Love the iced mocha🔥 Great place to reconnect.
What an impactful experience. I love feeling the warm welcoming aura of the space.
Lovely little spot with amazing people, coffee and food
I go in every morning. They are the best. The one time I had to order delivery, they wrote a message on my cup to let me know they knew it was me. They made me feel just as if I walked in. It really made my day
Visited this shop on the Caffeine Crawl Kansas City Spring 2023. Great locally owned coffee house.
Everyone here was incredibly nice and gave great recommendations. Patient and kind. Highly recommend for a nice Saturday morning.
This is such a fun coffee shop. The food is delicious. They have a great acai bowl. The tamales are really yummy. You need to try the grilled cheese with an egg. It's really good. The blueberry latte is fantastic.
Love going for a coffee, Bailey the barista is amazing!!!
Amazing customer service best food around town
Big fan of Anchor Island!! As a community partner, they’ve been great to work for events we host at UMKC. Quality coffee, extremely friendly service, and willing to go above and beyond. Putting my money where my mouth is, coworkers and I visited for lunch to give them some much earned love and support and we were blown away again by the welcoming staff and atmosphere. Y’all, no joke, this some of the best breakfast food for a coffee shop I’ve had in my life. Anchor Island has most places beat. The breakfast burrito and quesadillas are top notch and make excellent pairings for the tropical coffee options. I’ll be sure to spread my love of Anchor Island to all my students for years to come. Horchata latte, you’re forever in my heart.
Awesome local coffee shop, LGBTQ owned, has some affordable produce, and great food. Very glad they’re in the neighborhood!
Super cool unique place and space!! Great energy!
Didn't try any food, great atmosphere. Look forward to returning and trying something off the menu. Danish looked delicious!
