Dropped by today before our road trip home. The staff knew their patrons by name, and the miel iced latte was probably the best I’ve ever had! Amazing.

Nice, local non-chain coffee shop. Nice neighborhood vibe, good coffee, friendly service. Comfortable seating. Local pastries.

The Wild Bean is a fun coffee shop right in Mahtomedi. I've had lattes and regular coffee. Both were good. They have quite a few different treats (donuts, muffins, etc), and other food options. I'd like to try some of their breakfast options. There's a place to hook up your dog outside and a very friendly place.

This is definitely my favorite coffee shop in the metro area. The music is quiet enough that I can work on my laptop. Everyone who works here is always nice, and I've actually had a few really nice conversations with other patrons, too. I really enjoy the drinks and baked goods I get here, they're always yummy. The vibes are absolutely adorable and sitting outside chatting with a friend when it's warm out is nice. I haven't taken my dog here yet, but outside the door they have a water dish, treats, and a place to hang up your dogs leash while you run in and get your coffee. I love the browsing and sometimes buying things from the little shopping area. The only thing I'd change is I'd love if it were open later, I just can't get enough of The Bean!

Cute little place but the staff was not good. They forgot 3 things, we had to go up and remind them, so we waited 20 minutes for a smoothie and a regular coffee.

I came in from the cold on the first snowy day, in October, and was looking for hot 🔥 soup or chili....they don't do that currently, but they had very fresh baked goods, and the foam on my mocha bespoke a pride in craft not all coffee shops uphold. The staff was helpful and efficient and nice to me, that and their gifty wall made me want to come back when I have more time to relax and enjoy a beverage there! Adorable and homey spot that vibes a bit of Cape Cod, but is definitely Minnesota.

Edit: I can say I have changed my previous 2-star rating after ownership changes. Maddie has really poured time, money, and effort into revamping this place. Only knocked off one star for quality of coffee. Wishing it was better, but it’s not awful. :) ———— 2 stars: Location and community Why not 5 stars: A few years back it would've been 5 stars, but since new ownership over the last two years, it has slowly gone downhill. The biggest complaint would be paying $35 for four sandwiches, only to find the ciabatta is completely soggy on half and brick hard on the other half... literally inedible. I've talked to the owner and employees *multiple* times about this for years and there has been no resolve. This occurs about 80% of the orders. As much as I love the local place, another concern is cleanliness. With the same gloves, the barista took orders on the register, made coffee, made sandwiches with meat, opened the freezer to get the soggy/hard bread, used the microwave, dug their hand into the chip bag, got a bakery item out of the case, and fixed their hair. Upon leaving, the same gloves were still on. This completely breaks my heart to leave this review because I want to see this place succeed, but management has got to step it up and take initiative. If things change, I'll update the review.

Absolutely amazing new ownership! Staff is super friendly and quick, they redid the patio as well as the inside and they’re both gorgeous, there are new delicious and creative drinks and it’s such a relaxing, small-town, welcoming space! A hidden gem that’s charming because it’s so different from many of the coffeeshops in the cities.

Friendly and helpful service. My coffee drink was very tasty and there was a nice array of small gifts available for purchase. I'll soon return.

Really neat local coffee shop, they make a great mocha! I met the owner once and she was great to talk to. Highly recommend. I usually go on the weekends at 11am or later, there isn't a huge line and service is quick.

How patriotic is it to be closed on the 4th of july? For a business it's only open for a few hours a day, it seems like it would make sense to open until early afternoon and then go enjoy the day. I was sad when I learned this place is under new ownership, and now I'm more sad.

Very quaint little coffee shop in Mahtomedi! Coffee is organic and free trade. Good food, yummy sweets, and a lot of different flavors for coffees and teas. Very pleasant atmosphere and outdoor patio. Highly recommended!

My wife and I like to walk down and get our coffee here from time to time. It’s always been great coffee and the staff has been very friendly. I would probably pass on the food options, as it wasn’t anything special.. but nonetheless they are a coffee shop and I feel they do it well!

My kids and I really love this coffee shop. They go for the mango smoothies and the loud questions about other customers. I love it for the easy walk and the delicious coffee. The staff is always friendly and brightens your day. They have plenty of regulars who must feel the same way. It feels good to support a local business, to show your kids it’s important to do. I’m impressed by the owner who’s doing something big at a young age. We’ll definitely be back!
