Atmosphere was hip and welcoming. I enjoyed the layout of the space and the outdoor seating options. Mocha was great but I wanted more of a stronger chocolate flavor for my personal preference.

One of my favorite spots to get coffee. Service was amazing, coffee is delicious and atmosphere is legit!

GREAT coffee. Warning the espresso is strong⚡! I've also had great results at home with their beans. Most seating is outside. Their inside seating area's open now where they also roast the beans, so it can randomly get very noisy while you're sitting there. I really respect that they updated their name so people wouldn't mistake them as supporting "bootstrap theory".

Had a cappuccino, mocha, decaf mocha, steamed milk, chocolate croissant, and almond croissant. Everything was great! The barista was super nice, so was the person that took our order. My kids took forever to decide, and the staff did not show any signs of impatience, I was pretty impressed by that 😄

The vanilla bean latte wasn’t it today. Just tasted like straight whole milk and old coffee.

Cool experience being able to see the roasting area open at the back of the shop. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Not much seating inside but a nice customer shared his table with me. There’s more seating outside, so I look forward to a nicer day. The Lemon poppy seed croissant roll was pretty good. The mocha breve tasted a little burnt/bitter initially, but mellowed out quickly. Overall an enjoyable experience. I hope to be back!

Absolutely delicious coffee, the atmosphere is top notch, and you can even watch them roast the coffee beans right on site! If you haven't had their coffee, tea, or even hot cocoa, you are definitely missing out! Go there today!

Awesome small batch coffee. The shop roasts all beans in house with their roasters exposed to the storefront. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend the El Salvador whenever they have it. I’ll be back.

Such a cute coffee shop! I heard about how good their strawberry shortcake latte was so I had to try it. It definitely lived up to the hype. It was delicious iced and had a great strawberry taste without being too overpowering. I’ve also had their iced lemon bar latte which was delicious as well! Ordering is through their window outside or you can walk in and grab a table too. The best part about Backstory is all their syrups and sauces are house made! Overall loved my drinks and will definitely be coming back!

Backstory coffee beans are among the top quality coffee beans. My favorite is wayfinder - it is a delicious light roast. My rating for the coffee beans would be a 5/5. I only post a 1 star rating is because of the poor quality coffee i got here. I bought a 10 oz narrator to go. It tasted so bad that i had to stop at the nearest store to spill the coffee down the drain and get rid of the cup because even a glance of it reminded me of how bad it tasted. I will continue buying the beans and continue recommending it to others BUT I will never but the same coffee brewed at this outlet again.

I usually love this place but lately the coffee has been inconsistent. I heard a barista saying they have some new people. (which is probably why) But overall the coffee is good. I love that they have seasonal drinks

We became aware of this place when they opened their north loop location so decided to try their Saint Paul one and it’s super cute! The same great coffee. Most of the building is the roastery so not a great place to come work. 2 4-person tables 2 high top 2-person tables and 4 stools against the window. They do have an order window which I’m sure gets more utilization In the Summer months. Overall a great stop!

Finally got the chance to walk inside and drink the hot latte. Have been using their beans for a while and this time we got into, not many seats are available. Especially in winter, we can’t sit on outdoors. Above all, the coffee is great.
