Spy house has changed a lot over the years but I still like to pop in for a Jasmine Tea Lemonade. Favorite drinks on the menu! Nicollet is a cute location, it can be a challenge to find a place to park. Also tried a new combo of the Red Berries tea with the Jasmine tea lemonade - tasted good but still prefer a classic JTL.
Amazing vibes, super friendly staff and fantastic drinks and pastries. Love hanging out here and picking up some delicious cold brew and a pastry.
Try the ginger/turmeric latte it’s simply delightful.
Spyhouse = darn good coffee Spyhouse = good place to hang out. As a “local chain” Spyhouse has done a good job with their buildings, locations, and most importantly their coffee. They have chosen well and all of their locations end up being welcoming coffee shops and they have replicated the quality of their coffee as well. Good coffee here, parking is on the street and you may have to walk a little. Tasty treats, plenty of sitting space, outdoor seating in the summer. 👍
Great vibe, really good decaf oat milk cappuccino and drip coffee, delicious pull alert pastry. We will definitely return!
Cool place to grab a cup of coffee and search the internet. Usually a few people in here but always get a table
I enjoy Spyhouse cafes, and this one didn’t disappoint. I enjoy the overall layout of seating, almost surrounding the coffee bar as the center. A good spot to study, but keep in mind it’s generally busy.
Coziest spot in the neighborhood to get some work done or meet with friends to study, read, and play Pokémon Go since it’s a gym. Really thankful for this lovely space with kind employees, delicious drinks and pastries, outlets throughout, and ambient lighting. I also really like that they have a water spout available. Their matcha and chai lattes are consistently amazing. I join a small group here weekly and we can always find a table to accommodate our group.
Good size place with plenty of comfortable seating and ample elbow room/table top space. Dog friendly. Warm, well-kept decor/interior (not looking like it was put together by college sophomore with curb-scored furniture). Espresso drinks are usually really good though gods of chance might give you a mediocre barista occasionally. Expensive. Only true criticism is the layout for point of sale which is directly inside the front door in main traffic zone, awkward and frustrating. Rookie decision by whoever made it.
Coffee is ok. Pastries also ok. I think the wifi is connected to a dial up router, because its so horrendously slow you can't get any work done.
Nice local coffee shop. Price is a little high but it helps you are supporting a local buisness.
Good atmosphere. Prices too high for mediocre coffee and baked goods. Also, fun fact about this place: I learned from someone inside the scene of local coffee shop owners that the reason that Spyhouse's internet seems to curiously drop out every now and then (I've encountered this just about every time I've been there for more than a couple hours) is because they intentionally cut it off to cycle people out who have been sitting for a while. Don't want people sitting around for longer than X length of time? Okay, fine but have some integrity and post that intention openly instead of undertaking some rodentine action in secret to accomplish the same goal. In any case, bring your hotspot if you plan on doing work here for a while. Also still mandating masks-- which maybe there is some articulable reason for doing so (certainly not one that's derived from methodologically rigorous clinical studies FWIW) but taken together with the other issues I'll be going elsewhere at least until I can sit inside without taking a ride in a time machine back to 2020. Edit (4 Oct 2022): upgrading to 3 stars because antediluvian mask mandate finally, mercifully, removed.
Great stop with a cozy interior. I ordered a pour over which they did on a Kalita and really enjoyed it! Would definitely return.
They’ve been always really nice. Coffee is always good and pastry suuuper tasty.
Stopped in on my way home from work. Grabbed my dog, the Spygirl latté, and a savory danish pastry filled with tomato confit and sat outside. It sprinkled a little but some of the outdoor tables have umbrellas. We enjoyed the experience. It looks like they try to keep the pastry case full. We came around 7:30am. Barista was super friendly and the café was very welcoming and had great ambiance. Definitely a place where I would enjoy work meetings at or studying.
Super cute place. Staff is very friendly. Coffee is not good. Period. Have tried coffee here multiple times in last four years and it is sub par to say the least. If you know coffee and are looking for a good cup this is not the place for you. Don’t waste your $7+ go elsewhere or go without.
Spyhouse is on the pricier side in terms of neighborhood coffee shops, but this location has the best ambiance. I would enjoy coming here and doing some writing at a table by the window.
Why doesn't this place have 5 stars?? This is a real coffee shop, unlike starbucks or caribou. Parking can be difficult, but that's understandable in the city. Great staff, great coffee.
Lovely open space with wooden decor. Coffee is excellent and the staff knowledgeable. Shaded outdoor tables are available and the interior space is air-conditioned. On the expensive end of the coffee shop spectrum.
Very quick service, and even though Google says it was busy I walked in and there wasn't even a line, which was nice. One size for the drinks. I got an iced SpyGirl-- the coffee and the oat milk part of it was good, but I unfortunately couldn't taste any lavender, and the particular honey they used didn't seem to complement the coffee very well. Maybe it was just that batch of honey, or maybe I accidentally took someone else's drink by mistake and I wasn't even drinking a SpyGirl? Not quite sure. Seems like a nice place to go back to though. I'll update the review next time I visit. Update: revisited. Ordered an iced cold press, and it was good, with cocoa undertones-- though more acidic than i normally associate with cold press.
