Had Joe as a server on Memorial Day. The place was packed but Joe was very cheerful and efficient and we didn’t mind the wait for a table. We had Shelby 2 days later before heading home to Mpls and she was also great! You could tell they both loved their job
Had breakfast, and the food was absolutely phenomenal!!! Biscuits and gravy were perfect, and our awesome sever Shelby H was incredibly helpful and all around good to be around! Couldn't recommend this place more!!

Went in for a caramel roll. Don't waste your $5. It was just a dry roll with cold caramel sauce on the side that you pour on yourself. Ain't a true caramel roll. Was dry and bland.
We've eaten here several times on our yearly trip to Duluth. Service has always been good. The kids really like the cinnamon rolls. They have very generous proportions.
We came here on Mother's Day and I ordered breakfast. When we finally got our food my food was mostly cold. The sausage was extremely dry and tasteless. I told our waitress that my sausage was super dry and didn't taste like anything. She didn't offer me a different option but still charged the full price for my meal. We will not be back.
🤷🏽♂️ dishes and water smell kinda fishy, the breakfast sausage was dry and tasted weird. Not terrible food, but not good. Bloody Mary was sweet?
Really sad about this place. We come to Duluth periodically and love trying all the different restaurants. Vanilla Bean definitely had some fun menu items. We were greeted immediately and taken to our table. There were several empty tables and 6+ employees. And no one ever came to our table. We sat while everyone around us were offered service. We ended up leaving after being ignored.
Very awesome restaurant! My mom and I went in there to try somewhere new and left very pleased! Our waitress, Shelby, was very kind and attentive. The food was phenomenal as well! I had the Denver omelet with home fries and an English muffin. Very filling and now I get to enjoy my leftovers later! Would definitely come back again!
How is there a 30 minute wait for a party of two when more than half the tables are empty? Make it make sense. If you cannot staff your restaurant to handle the amount of tables you have, especially on a weekend, then do better. I've enjoyed the food here before, but not being able to seat 2 people in under half an hour when there are multiple tables and the entire bar on the window all open is ridiculous. Finding somewhere else to eat today, as will other people in the future if you can't handle a half full restaurant.
Service here is always beantastic, my waitress was Shelby and she had fantastic menu knowledge with great recommendations. 10 beans out of 10 for me.
Lovely breakfast with very nice service!
I love this place! They have wonderful items for breakfast, and not your usual fare. The wild rice porridge was excellent, and I loved the Swedish pancakes. Even the bacon was great – thick and meaty and great tasting. Service was excellent as well. And best of all, the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely keep coming back here!
Mikayla was a great waitress. The eggs and breakfast potatoes were excellent! The biscuits and gravy were mediocre however I know that this is a more southern dish. I Would recommend Vanilla Bean for a great breakfast especially for large groups.
Fantastic service, very friendly. The menu has a great selection to choose from and my meal was delicious. I will definitely be returning to the Vanilla Bean!!
Went in to get an iced vanilla latte the other week and was greeted by friendly faces! I love the music, the quiet vibe in the afternoons, and small talk from the servers.
Came in at 11:00 am on a Monday. Half capacity. Was served at 11:50. In those 50 minutes my server never came by to do what would seem reasonable; tell me that the kitchen was backed up, or to see if she could get me more coffee or water. Her co worker brought me the bill 20 minutes before my food came out, however. Then, 10 mins into my meal, my assigned server walked by and nonchalantly left another bill on the table. Not once engaging with me to ask me if my food was okay, if she could refill my water, etc. I would loved to have asked her but she didn't slow down on her walk by. I felt like a nuisance. The food was decent, probably would have liked it more if someone would have made me feel remotely valued coming in to spend money. An Edit after your response: I did not call your server "tacky". Not in the review nor in person. What I *DID* say at the time of paying to the server actually assigned to my table was, "you coworker left me a bill already" and after her acknowledgement I replied, "Yeah, that was a really tacky move. He should consider not doing that again". So not only did I not call your server tacky, rather I defined the action as such, but I didn't bring it up in this review. And you weren't present for it. If you are not willing to own anything to continue your so called 5-start service, that's on you. There is a lot of negativity in the world, there is also a lot of lack of accountability. Spin it however you want to not assume responsibility, but the service, not the servers nor the food, was less than 5 star. Thanks for showing me exactly who you are in your response. It helps form my future purchasing decisions and recommendations.
