Others may enjoy their coffee, but their black drip coffee tastes burned, and it's expansive for the size of the coffee. It's a trendy little place, but if you just need a black coffee you might want to look elsewhere. I'm sure they have other great coffee drinks though I didn't try them. I bought a couple donuts for my coworker's and they liked them a lot.
A beautiful establishment with caring, gracious staff and owners. I'm so glad I can call this my neighborhood coffee shop.
My favorite coffee place in Lansing. Had my first date with my now spouse at their original location. Wrote much of my dissertation at one of their tables! Now we bring our toddler to enjoy her own “kid’s steamer” and annoy the other customers (sorry!). What would I be without Strange Matter?!? Delicious coffee and baked goods, friendly staff, and I am so supportive of the owners’ local and inclusive initiatives. I visit it often and will continue to get my coffee and vegan donuts here.
Best coffee and donuts in the area, and an awesome vibe! I never miss a change to stop by Strange Matter for a latte and donut (or two or three).

My absolute favorite coffee shop in the Lansing area! so many delicious drink options and an incredible variety of baked goods (majority of which are vegan, while also being the tastiest donuts i’ve ever had!). We’ll drive the 15mins to Strange Matter over the starbucks on the corner any day to support a business with great values & a want to better the community. I can’t say enough good things - every experience there has been wonderful. is it busy and hard to find a spot to sit? yes, but that’s just what happens when a place is popular! they have an online order a head option which we like to opt for. drinks are always ready when we arrive and staff is always wonderful!

Got a perfect cinnamon roll and a surprisingly delicious savory herb scone for breakfast today, loved them both! Every time I come here I love them just a little more, great people and phenomenal baked goods!
A lovely place run by lovely people with an active interest in engaging their local community. Try the earl grey donut if you get the chance!

delicious tea and coffee, out of this world donuts, kind baristas, and a comforting atmosphere! i cannot recommend strange matter enough! plus, the gluten free and vegan options make it one of the few local places that work for both myself and my roomie’s unique diets. i would recommend a matcha tea latte if your ever torn on what to get; it’s AMAZING!
