After nine years, returned to Rowster Coffee. They don't have tshirts anymore but the coffee is still great.
Coffee lovers, Rowsters Coffee in Eastown Grand Rapids is a must-visit! Sit at the window and watch Wealthy Street go by while sipping on their tasty mocha or any of their other great caffeinated beverages. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere make it the perfect spot to catch up with friends or relax alone. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
For whatever reason, Mod bars make the tastiest cortados. Reminded me of Anthology over in Detroit. Also the aesthetic and baristas are stellar.
Best baristas in town
Bathroom was very gross and dirty. Coffee was good but expectations were high going in. Barista's latte art was excellent. Hung out and read for a little bit but ambiance was a little too stark qnd echoey.
Had a gift card, so I went to use that. I absolutely love coffee shops, so it would be hard to find one I wouldn't give a good rating to. This one is at the top of the list as far as flavor. I can't have any dairy and am sensitive to almost everything. I got an Americano with lavender. My daughters both got Chai. They said it was the best Chai they have had. Service was FANTASTIC!!
I loved the location,The latte it was delicious complimented by a Nutella muffin 👌🏼
Absolutely don't do reoccurring online orders. Very solid coffee, but they have very poor customer service and can't even send the right tier bag you pay for. I have tried contacting them 3 times now, and they keep shafting me and telling me they'll call back or their email was down. Rowsters owes me my money back.
Great vibe and drinks. Lily is awesome! Super kind and helpful. Would definitely come back.
This used to be my favorite coffee shop 2015-2017. I stopped by in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and even bought Milky Way beans online several times. It's just not as good as it used to be. The beans might as well have been Folgers they packed so little flavor. I don't use house made almond milk anymore, and my latte tasted disgusting. Espresso was still good in house. Staff is always great though.
Such a cool place! Their coffee is rich and smooth. Their GM David always treats us right! Highly recommended.
Great little place! Kind staff, plenty of seating and outlets, and tasty drinks! Recommend the Cubano
Was in GR for a short visit, and sampled three coffee joints during my stay. The other two cafes to be reviewed received 5/5; Rowster receives 4/5. Rowster remains safely above the average for coffee shops in GR, but seems to have some distance to go to make the list for someone hailing from the Pacific Northwest. Service was less than expedient, and the latte lacked character and texture. What’s with cafes in GR not offering lattes in anything over 12oz portions? Spare me and “specialty shop” BS and allow customers that know what they want a way to get a 16/20oz quad. Nice to have Rowster adding the Wealthy Street vibe (I actually lived off Wealthy St prior to revitalization) but at $6 for a less than memorable 12oz late, they’re priced above market value (even from a West Coast perspective.)
Staff is always polite and the coffee always seems to impress. I think the chai is better here than most places.
Rowsters is my favorite coffee of all time. A little disappointed they stopped having homemade fresh almond milk. That was what really drew me in to go their often. Fortunately another coffee shop in the area has homemade almond milk. Will continue to stop into rowsters once in awhile.
I do a lot of walking and stop at coffee shops to take a break, this is a nice one to stop at. Good selection of drinks and reasonably priced. Very limited things to snack on, today bagels from Terra, Not a lot of room but I’ve always found a place to sit. Place is clean and the staff are very friendly. They sell whole beans and will grind them for you. Lots of traffic in and out so good business.
So by far the worst Chai I've ever had, no spice, all milk, and made from syrup. Couldn't even finish it.
Nice atmosphere and good coffee but I came in with a group of friends after a night out and I felt like the lone barista was pretty overwhelmed seeing 8 people walk in. I don’t blame her, but I would anticipate a coffee shop to have more than one worker on for a Sunday morning.
My chai latte was delicious and the waitstaff was super nice. Interior is quite cool and atmosphere is nice and quiet.
I really loved the feel and atmosphere of Rowster, but wish their selection was a little wider. I got Kombucha and it was amazing, but a little pricy for the size. Great place to do work and hang out. Staff is awesome!
