Had a very nice experience. Woman was very polite and the coffees were delicious. Just the right balance of flavors without being too sweet. Would definitely get coffee here again!
My wife and I try to stop in when we are in GR if time allows, because not only is the coffee outstanding, so is the service. The lady that works there is so sweet and accommodating, and the shop is clean and cozy. I found myself reading through the reviews because I was puzzled that they only get 3.7 stars, and as it turns out a good lot of them are complaints from people buying something from the coffee shop next door then proceeding to use Local Mocha's outdoor tables, and being asked to sit elsewhere. Um, there are public benches literally about 8 feet away from their outdoor tables, so yeah, your complaints are invalid. And as for the jerks who used Local Mocha's indoor trash to dispose of the other coffee shop's garbage: Again, public trash cans 8 feet away, and yes, it's extremely rude to do what you did. Folks, let me tell you, the majority of these complaints are from over privileged whiners who spend their lives waiting for something to get upset about. Don't listen to them. Local Mocha is da bomb!
I get a hotdog here almost everyday and its the best deal in Grand Rapids for a hotdog. I absolutely love the woman that runs the shop, very nice and a good place to eat and get coffee.
I wish I could rate this cafe's drinks but I can't because the lady at the desk just straight up refused to serve us. My dad was on the phone and unable to hear the lady at the counter when he entered, so instead of waiting for him to finish she started making snarky comments about how rude we were and didn't let us order at all. Really poor service. Edit:The cafe owners response makes it seem like someone was assaulted. But I've read through some of their other responses and have found that their only way of responding is accusing people of being racists or other things, don't heed anything of their response.
Good tea, quiet place
The lady who greeted me was very sweet and definitely brightened my morning despite all of the surprise snow. The food and smoothies are amazing and the menu has a great variety of food to pick from.
If you're thinking of going to Madcap Coffee nextdoor, GO HERE INSTEAD! Good service, good coffee, and it's local, so you'll be supporting a small business rather than some hipster chain like Madcap. :)
Very good customer service! The lady was very nice and coffee was very good! The menu was vast and very good! I've seen some comments about how some were overpriced but if they read the board, it costs a little extra for more pumps of syrup. Overall very fun and inviting experience!
The worker seemed really sweet when I went. I have gone two times so far, and both times were really nice. I recommend going!

I went in to get coffee with my family. Four coffees were over 30.00. The woman at the counter was very rude to all of us. Overall just a terrible experience. After reading multiple reviews and seeing how the owner throws out the racism card and talks/treats their customers. It makes me think maybe we were up charged and treated the way we were for not being of the same skin color. Sad to say but racism goes every which way sad that this business partakes in racist tactics. Especially so openly on Google. Buyer beware do not support this business. The response from the ‘owner’ is a blatant lie. I did not order a large and I specifically ordered one of the specialty lattes. As were both of the other coffees also we did not order large. Please do not tell lies in order to make yourself look better. This business is a scam. Blatantly making up lies and invalid excuses to validate them over charging.. not one of us customized any drink. Sickening the response is absolutely sick!
So glad for listening to past experiences from family and being able to read the responses left by this establishment. It’s sad to see the defensive responses calling people racist and confronting people in ways that is inappropriate and uncalled for. So sad but glad I will never be visiting this establishment and will be warning others to not even try to visit this location. Such a disgusting way to handle business.
What a lovely find! I wish google would have shown their shop to me. I was walking by and happened upon it. My son and I had a delicious lunch of grilled cheese, soup and a hot dog. The person working was quite friendly and I appreciated her help even when she was busy. Highly recommend for a affordable lunch option downtown
