I love tea, and I love that they are so knowledgeable about tea and that it is brewed loose leaf. It's a great place with a very calm and friendly atmosphere.

excellent espresso! good vibes, cozy and they just started roasting their own coffee. An absolute staple to the GR coffee scene and I respect all that they’re doing :) Also lots of non-coffee options, fun pastries and space to hang.

This is the first bad review I have ever left. I said "thank you" after getting my coffee and the barista did not respond. I lived in Portland, Oregon for seven years. Always had friendly baristas at Stumptown and all other roasters.

Great beverages, great bagels, great atmosphere, and a good playlist. That's all a place like this needs and they deliver. Check it out some time, I highly recommend it for a quiet workplace or a coffee date.

Kinda bummed being called Lantern I was hoping for different kinds of lanterns to be hanging everywhere.

Tasty coffe but the basement seats are a little vibe killer.

Amazing coffee, relaxed vibe, and excellent bakery selections make this a perfect place to start the day, study, or simply chill with a friend or partner.

Great, quick service and delicious coffee. A bit pricey, but worth the quality.

A higher-end coffee shop that deals with urban realities in a pretty dignified way. There's no way to get on the bad side of these guys, I have yet to be disrespected despite any situation. Still around after years, still local Elites and, well, us lesser-bank-endowed folk, drinking coffee together in mutual dignity. Bring big money for the opener on coffee, as a non-coffee expert, I can safely say this is among the finest pour-over and brewed coffee in Michigan. But what do I know. The internet is fast and the entry for an urban coffee is buy a coffee and be respectful. Act your part if you show up, everyone else does around here.

Chloe! Thank you for going above and beyond for two hurried clients tonight, one of whom wasn't feeling well. You were so compassionate. Much appreciated and the cafe miel was wonderful.

This place has very friendly staff, pretty decent coffee, and a nice atmosphere. I struggled a little bit to figure out my coffee options at first and landed on a seasonal drink. I normally love a peppermint mocha but this one just seemed to be lacking in flavor a little bit. It wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me. There's a large cozy space down a floor to sit and drink coffee. It is set up to easily be able to work while you are there on a computer which several people were. There was even someone there on a virtual meeting and it was not disruptive of the space and they seemed to be able to hear just fine. There's no table service so make sure to clean up after yourself! The prices were also very reasonable. I would come here again.

Been a huge fan of this place for years! I'm a student at Grand Valley and I absolutely love coming here to do homework. The atmosphere is so cozy and comforting. Everyone who works here is genuine and they provide great service. As far as drinks, I am a religious Chai latte girl and Lantern has one of the best in the city -- I highly recommend!

Update: The owner reached out immediately and apologized for the experience we had. He stated it was a due to a new barista and a training issue. He promised to correct the problem and offered to send us a gift card. Amazing customer service and coffee. [I ordered a breve latte as I always do. The barista stated, “We cannot do a hot breve. We can do a cold drink with half & half or we can do a hot drink with whole milk. Breve like breaks the wand.”]
