It's a beautiful location! The staff is friendly and very helpful!
Great place to visit with family or for a couples getaway. The owners and staff provide a welcoming environment and want your stay to be the best it can be.
We made a reservation for private dining and it was amazing. Chef Wi prepared a four-course meal with dishes inspired by a variety of international cuisines. Every dish had a balanced flavor profile and was brilliantly executed. She provided us with excellent service and full descriptions of the ingredients and preparation of the dishes. The lodge itself is in a picturesque setting and provides a quaint wilderness lodging atmosphere. The lodge is also a certified Dark Sky Park providing amazing views of the night sky. I will be back on my next trip to the Keweenaw Penisula.
One can only blame COVID so many times… TWO YEARS AGO. Seriously, just stop and be honest with your business model before you end up like the failed property before you purchased it. Trust me, you were in the right track but that derailed about as quickly as we were promptly disappointed by walking through your doors a month ago expecting a cozy place to spend money. It didn’t happen and it wasn’t even an offer on the table, yet there’s a “greeter” at the door diligently on their cell phone. Please, just get with it. It’s a nostalgic and beautiful place. At some point money was spent to make it shine, like it had over two years ago. Since then we’ve looked forward to coming back several times and more and more disappointed each. What was once a fun and beautiful place to golf and grab cocktails and food quickly became a desolate hipster wasteland of free Wi-Fi users and over priced commissary goods. The bar is closed two years later- no reason to golf and stay. Guess what? Golfers and tourists spend money. Trust me. We do. We won’t here. Not again. As someone who has frequented the UP since I was a baby and her parents and their parents, we see the ghost town that is your lodge and challenge you to get off your high horse and fix the operations to offer what your patrons and guests expect, otherwise, you’re just a cafeteria with a nice view. You had a beautiful thing going- seriously, stand out in a good way. You were on the right track. The lounge was beautifully curated yet approachable. Walking into staff not working and a desolate space is not inviting. Time to get back on track.
Downgraded due to new owners. Only referring to the restaurant. Not sure how lodging is.
Spent the weekend at KML and it was amazing. The cabin was perfect. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You can tell that the family that runs the place puts in every effort to make it a great experience. If you are visiting for biking, the access to the trails couldn't be any easier. We will 100% be back again.
Loved this place, old school lodge great service, food is fantastic and beautiful views from every corner. They have lots of cool log cabins with real fireplaces. I’d come back again and again.
This is a wonderful place, one of those fabulously well-designed and solidly and tastefully built WPA projects, but overpriced. The cabins are well-furnished. (I don't ordinarily watch tv). The property is extensive. Maybe because I was there in late September, sort of between seasons, the communication and the guest support was minimal: no one ever explained what was on offer or where it was. I was told that there was breakfast and lunch in the lodge: the breakfast burrito (not very memorable) was free but when I asked for the chili for lunch, they charged me $14. When I asked if there were any trail that I could run on, I was told that "they're all over the place, you can't miss them." When I asked if there was a map, there was one - only one- copy at the reception desk and I was invited to take a picture of it! When I asked about where would be good places to observe the dark sky, I was told to go to the Outdoor Activity Center -- which had never been mentioned before and which, in fact, is not on the signpost directing guests to various locations on the property. Found a sign off to one side of the parking for the "OAC" and the person there was hugely helpful. I think there were bike rental available but no one every said anything about that either, and there were probably other things that I never found out about. I think I should not have had to work so hard to find out what was on offer.
DJ'd a wedding there and the whole campus is beautiful!
Wish we had stayed there! Stopped by for 15 minutes to just see the historic lodge building. Spent two hours - shopping their gift shop, enjoying the many historic photographs and accompanying stories on numerous walls, had enjoyable lattes and walked around the lodge. Beautiful property. We can envision an afternoon spent in the wonderful Northwoods bar before dinner in the incredible dining room. This is 1930s-1950s opulence at its best.
I went there for stargazing and northern lights as it is on of the international dark sky park. The view was mind blowing, you could see the whole Milky Way from there. I wish there were street signs to help non locals get to the dark sky park easily.
Awesome place for the whole family. Delicious food, beautiful golf course, top-notch outdoor gear and guides, and nicely appointed lodging. The conference facilities and catering staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. My family has held a few events here over the past couple of years, and we have been very pleased each time. I recommend KML for all of your adventures, outings, and needs!
Could not be more happy with my experience I have played a lot of golf a lot of places and this is one of my favorites right away good real greens very cool layout
Nice they had a L2 charger, but I wanted to eat while charging and empty restaurant was by RSVP only. Hot chocolate (tasty) in cafe was $5 with cash not accepted (therefore no tip).
We rented 3 cabins for a long weekend. The staff is amazing and the property is in very good shape. Loved it and look forward to another mini vacation at the KML!!
Private dining 2 weeks advanced notice. Looks like it is mostly for golfers. Inside lodge looks comfy couldn't really see very much of it.
Just walked around the lodge and grounds, didn't actually see inside any cabins. The staff were super nice and the grounds beautifully kept.
The course is amazing and the staff is incredibly friendly. Brought my two 12-year-olds out for their first time and we had the place almost to ourselves on a weekday afternoon. Everyone was encouraging them on even though we were moving very slow. So much fun.
This is a must go if you visit the Copper Harbor area. It is truly a one of a kind experience. The cabins are secluded and comfortable. The lodge and staff are beautiful and more than willing to make your stay memorable. Breakfast burritos and drinks are served every morning and dinner can be a private dining experience. The best place to stay in the area with activities a short drive away. I will definitely be returning. Be sure to bring board games and cards as there is no TV service. Who needs it, you're at the top of the world.
Under promising and over delivering is the best way to describe this lodge. Staff were all very helpful. Hats off to Chris, who ran the adventure center and can work with bike riders of all levels. But, if you are a more advanced rider, and you want to stick on his tire, all I can say is "Hang on. You are in for a ride!!" Also, the breakfast burritos were the best!
