CAUTION: there is a 12% surcharge added to all orders and that charge is TAXED at the Mass Meal Tax rate of 6.25%, so you are paying an additional 18.25 % Surcharge I didn’t even order. Dolce Amar is still my favorite stop in the same plaza. UPDATED response 3/26/23 While I appreciate the polite response from the owners, from a financial perspective the owners are cost shifting their emoyees wages onto their customers. By doing so, the owners are saving money by not having to contribute a business owners share of Social Security dollars of their employees. In the long run the income these employees get from tips will effect their retirement benefits. I suspect the business owners also save money by not contributing that portion of an emoloyees ‘tip’ to the state’s Unemployment system. Here’s a thought, why don’t the owners just pay them a fair wage based upon the labor and skill set they bring to the business?

I tried to dine-in but my phone wouldn't scan the QR code so we ordered to-go. I don't like the quiosk and it is irritating a tip is still expected? Then I couldn't find a trash? Not sure what the deal is but it's too impersonal & cold.

I walked in for coffee and walked out as soon as I saw the screen they had set up for placing orders. I'm 29; I'm not a Luddite. I can use the screen, but I refuse. It's a ridiculous nuisance.

Solid food in a shopping center atmosphere. Order on an app at your table.

I live close to this place and used to go there occasionally as the food was good and it was a comfy cafe to sit in and have coffee. I stopped going there when they where really slow to re-open dine-in, long after everyone else had re-opened, after COVID. I went this morning to have breakfast with my husband and found that they had moved to a different location in the strip mall. The new location has zero ambiance, really cold. So, we walk in and see there is no longer an order counter but a kiosk, a la McDonalds. We sit down and there is only a QR code to scan, no menus. Super annoying, especially for my husband who is not tech-savvy. A girl comes over and asks if we want water. We say, no thanks, just coffee. She literally giggled and walked away. Then someone else came by and dropped the bottle of water that we said we didn't want on the table along with 2 plastic cups. When I opened the menu I figured out why she giggled. You have to order it like a takeout order form, so I started inputting 2 coffees but I had to do it separately because we take them differently. Meanwhile, my husband is asking me what's on the menu because he can't get into it. This all takes the same amount of time it would have taken to order everything from a server. We gave up and walked out. The entire experience annoyed us for the whole ride to another breakfast place in Ayer. Seeing from other posters that they expect a tip, I'm glad we left. We won't be back. Groton is definitely not hip enough for this place.

I guess I'm not "hip" enough for a dining experience like this. I found myself expecting a standard sit down restaurant with full waitress service and found something more like Pressed Cafe but with less atmosphere and less friendly. You seat yourself and you have no choice but to order on your phone or the tablets, and there's no one to help you with menu questions. Once you order a food runner brings your food and drinks out. They offered us water and we were served it in Dixie Cup sized cups, so I had to refill my water cup like 10 times, silly. They brought us the wrong drink order at first, and I also watched them bring the food in to-go containers for the people next to us who were dining-in. They were also very confused by the ordering platform clearly, because the food runner corrected them on the proper way to place a dine-in versus to-go order. Now for price. For 2 adults and 1 child to eat breakfast we spent $60, which I find excessive. The ordering system defaults to include a tip - but for what? We only ordered 2 breakfast bowls, 2 coffees and kids waffles. The one saving grace was that the food tasted good and we didn't have to wait for a table.

Cute place for brunch! The waffles are good. The lavender coffee was my favorite! You need to order through the QR code and net is quite slow. Make sure to ask the wifi passcode.

Their food and service is really good. They are especially good during this pandemic with online ordering and curbside pickup. They are safe and care about their community. In the past few months I have been inventing a Keto-ish breakfast that Blackbird Café makes perfectly. It's the Ranchero sandwich without the bread with it's contents placed on a bed of spinach with extra bacon and added avocado. The Ranchero sauce is fantastic on it! August 2022. The cafe In Groton has change to a vending machine. The only way to order is on line or via terminals in the lobby. No cash is accepted. No staff is there to greet you. Your options are the same as Acton and Burlington but you have to figure out how to make the order yourself. Since I order the keto special I invented I often get mistakes and missing contents. I then have to wander around looking for a human to address the issue and that is just not normal. The cafe is a vending machine. I don't tip machines.

Paid $13 for a pannini with 3 slices of old turkey that was cold cuts and not legit. The "homemade" lemonade had 3 times the amount of sugar that you should ever put in it . They don't Have anyone to take your order besides 2 computer screens and then have the audacity to ask for a tip, very non mask phobic. Not coming back.

First time visit this morning. A bit hard to locate a table. Once seated all was well. Scanned a QR code to view the menu. Paper menu would have been better. Too many options. Food was great. Not rushed to leave. Second visit this past weekend, service was slow.... Would go back again.

Picked up a take-out order from Blackbird in Groton this morning. Ordered my eggs over easy but the yolks were cooked through/not runny at all. Home fries were hard as rocks.

I was not impressed! First of all with the no cash, card only and having to order by QR code. Second the food wasn't good. I ordered eggs over easy and they were overcooked. The hashbrowns were hard and black. The only thing that was good was the coffee. Not worth the drive and definitely would not recommend.
