I was here on business for 2 weeks and this Peets coffee is the best! They are super friendly! But Pena is absolutely amazing! Pena remembered my name and every time I walked in he said my name. It felt like the tv show cheers every time came in (sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name). Pena is hands down why I chose Peets over Starbucks down the street. Love him!!

This review pertains to coffee beans only. I have gotten coffee beans from Peets for at least the past 15 years. They are simply the best variety and the freshest nowhere else to be found beans! However, lately the beans have been older (I really do care about the beans being as freshly roasted as possible), the quality is not the same, and the staff tries to sell the older beans first even when especially requested for most recent roasts. Today, an employee attempted to force me to buy the 3-pound bag when I asked for a more recent roast. I would have, but even the more recent roast was more than a month old, and imposing sell amounts on customers is just not right. The stores in general seem to be going down hill with reduced hours and less coffee bean options. So I have been resorting to their online business which I highly recommend and would give 10 stars for the quality of the beans. They are fresh roasted to order and delivered to my door within 3 business days!

Better than Starbucks, but still basic, quick coffee. Nothing to call home about. If you have a Capital One card just go to the Capital One Cafe since it serves the same coffee for 50% off.

I am a regular at this Peet's location and have always enjoyed sitting for a while as I drank my coffee and took care of some work. Unfortunately, I have witnessed an employee (Chip) of the location behave in a blatantly racist manner towards Asian customers on multiple occasions. He constantly treats them as if they cannot speak or understand English, and as if they are somehow dumb for it. Yesterday, however, I witnessed him refer to an Asian woman as "A Peet's Name," implying not only that Asian individuals all have "weird," "foreign" names that must be Americanized in order to receive service, but also that it is acceptable to use the phrase "Peet's Name" as a proper noun for an Asian person. I submitted a complaint on the Peet's website and received multiple responses assuring me that the issue would be dealt with, but today the same manager was at the counter again, working as if nothing had happened. The fact that he did not face so much as a suspension, especially given his history of treating Asian customers as an inconvenience to him, is absolutely abhorrent to me. As someone who is mixed race Asian, I absolutely cannot continue to give my money to Peet's, an establishment that takes no actions to hold bigots accountable, and in fact continues to employ them, creating an unsafe environment for all.

Patrick at Peet's in Harvard Square: What a great employee! I want to thank Patrick for his dedication to his clients and his excellent carefully-crafted coffee. Among the cafes in the area, Peet's is my favorite and became my go-to cafe, and that is entirely due to Patrick's welcoming service.

chip and how do you know what chip .. the warrior man. The man who conquered all nationalities in this state that calls for freedom and equality.. the state that equalizes people. Chip, who destroyed everything that the state of humanity has done, the ancient United States, a country of respect, literature and culture.. for a piece of bread or coffee that a person can drink in his home.. you pay money from your free money, so someone comes as a chip who tells you that he is the one who paid the money and that he is the kind and that he is not Coffee in all states other than me. I don't know where to run this shop. If some people do not write, it is politeness and respect that they have. I saw him yesterday politely with a person with tall muscles. Because he knows that if he misbehaves with him, he would make him sweep the floor with his tongue.

With closing of the big Starbucks beside main Harvard subway entrance, this is now the most pleasant, comfortable, & convenient cafe in the Square. (Tatte is usually jammed & feels rushed, even crazed.) Patio's has few but large tables. It's roomy & right on a park. Inside seating's pretty good w/large windows on 3 sides. I enjoy the lattés & frozen (blended ice) coffee drinks. Pastries are OK.
