I'm relatively new to the Boston/Cambridge area but Curio has quickly become my go-to place for coffee, and I always find myself looking forward to the next time I can come back. 1. The waffle specials on weekends (the selection rotates regularly and is always creative) will often sell out before the day is over, so plan accordingly. However the classic Liege waffle and the weekday-only Everything waffle are so good that you can't go wrong with any of them. 2. The coffee is consistently delicious (to the point where I might have accidentally become a little too spoiled overall), and their barista does a stellar job every single time. Thank you, Jules. 3. Even when the shop is packed with customers the staff members running the store have always provided me with efficient, attentive, and considerate service. This team puts a lot of heart into their work and it shows. 4. Decor is cute, music selection is great, surfaces are clean = the vibes are impeccable. If you're planning a first visit, some more notes: Space can be limited, but seating for one or two usually frees up at a decent pace. For larger groups it seems a little less predictable. Customers bus their own tables to help keep it tidy (collection area is at the back of the store). It gets busy enough on weekends that shop policy is to avoid bringing your laptop on those days. I appreciate that a lot of people who come in here regularly seem considerate of everyone else in the space (especially when it's crowded), and it really does go a long way!
Hands down the best coffee shop in Cambridge. I commute from CT on business and make sure to stop by every time I’m in the area because it can’t be missed. You won’t find a better waffle anywhere around here… just sayin’
Good things often come in small packages and Curio is the embodiment of this idiom. This small but mighty independent cafe serves some of the best coffee in Cambridge and is run by a super friendly and capable team (a BIG nod here to the short haired barista who helped me this morning, thus renewing my faith in humanity. You officially rock). As good as the coffee is, you would be foolish to leave here without getting one of their house made Leige waffles to pair. These are the real deal: waffle dough (batter is for children) studded with pearl sugar that caramelizes perfectly when pressed in the iron. The result is a piping hot, bready, and not-too-sweet waffle that - if you have poor impulse control like I do - you will eat far too quickly, leaving you to wonder why you didn't just order two.
The staff is very rude unless you’re a regular. After my friend gave his order, he found another customer’s yoga mat that was left behind and went out to find them. However in the middle of that the barista may have called out his names a couple of times (mind you, it’s a super loud place) and none of us heard. When he returned the barista and the server were unnecessarily rude. You can’t yell at a customer for not getting their coffee ASAP (again, this was not more than 3-5 minutes)
Today I had absolutely unprofessional and uncalled for rude behavior from their barista. Upon sitting I saw someone forgot their yoga mat so I ran after them and told. Just when I came back and checked my phone the barista came in SHOUTING DO I WANT MY COFFEE? I get that she may have called my name a few times but it was TOTALLY uncalled for when she was loudly chatting with customers and people at the bar, and in loud music, anddd I wasn't around. Might as well pay some attention around instead of chatting with others loudly if you want to be rudey and say no you deserved it coz you were in phone (said the other guy). TLDR; Been a long time customer and the staff is becoming too rude and have preferences about the customers they want to be nice to. KEEP YOUR CALM! Customer, DO NOT COME HERE AND RUIN YOUR MORNING unless you think you are their "preferred" one.
Great coffee. A little weird they charge $0.25 extra for iced drinks though.
Super cute spot! Fire playlist, fast service, fantastic coffee. Do yourself a favor and get the dang waffle!!
Used to really love this place for their service, coffee and waffles. Came here during the pandemic for takeout service, etc. Sadly, the service has been increasingly meh and there is clear difference in how regulars and other customers are treated, to the point where it’s quite uncomfortable. Impossible seating on weekends but it’s a natural constraint of the physical space itself. Coffee and waffle are still good but no longer will be recommending this as a must go for visitors or making effort to stop by on weekends.
Incredible lattes and liege waffles! My partner and I come all the time. Friendly environment with a neighborhood feel. Amazing service!
Unassuming from the outside, eclectic and comfortable inside. My cappuccino was splendid and my wife enjoyed her cafe au lait. Both came at a great value as pricing is reasonable.
Solid little shop which was a comfortable to drink an espresso and get some work done before client meetings. Disappointed that one of the pics showed "pour over" on the menu but they did not have it here. The single person behind the counter was beyond over-worked this morning, so asking her to make me a pour over would have been cruel anyway. The espresso was good and the people seemed to be ordering the waffles repeatedly. I would come back.
Delicious waffles and excellent customer service
I returned to Cambridge after almost 4 years away, and I was so excited to be reunited with Curio coffee. I seriously thought about their liege waffles while I was away. They're so good! The coffee is also fantastic. I would get coffee at Curio every morning if I could.
Love their waffle.
Probably one of the best mochas I’ve had in a LONG time
Its not a secret that their waffle is probably the best thing to consume with their coffees. Delicious espresso drinks and incredible staff make this place totally worthwhile!
Great Coffee, great waffles! Service is a bit slow for how many customers they get but everyone is super sweet and helpful!
Came in for the first time so I asked for recommendations on two items. The woman there said that she doesnt drink coffee so she cant give recommendations. I sat down on a table to work on my laptop but she said “oh by the way, we don’t allow laptops here”. So I respectfully closed my laptop and it went back into my bag. When she said my drink is ready, it really felt she didnt want me there. Customer interaction is important and I know this since i worked as a barista before. this had to be the most unpleasant experience at a coffee shop.
Tiny, cheerful coffee shop with solid coffee drinks and pretty exceptionally delicious waffles. Friendly service and fairly priced.
This place was on my list because of the award-winning liege waffles, and they were worthy of the praise. So good! There was no pourover service on the day of my visit, but the drip coffee was still excellent. Cute little cafe with a nice vibe and friendly staff.
