Super disappointed to come here for the first time to find that they had run out of all of their non-dairy milks :(
This coffee shop is inside the library on the back side, ground floor. Seating is extremely limited and because it's at the bottom of an indoor escalator the area is loud with a constant whirring noise. You can get coffees, teas, and small snacks either for there or to go. Nothing particularly special as far as coffee spots go but its location makes it extremely convenient and valuable.
Closed during posted open hours according to their website and Google maps. Walked over in the cold to try this out for no reason.
Be aware that it is in the library. I'm sure it is great. Hours were not updated on Google, so it'll have to wait.
This did not seem like a good locally owned cafe. It did not have good seating and was loud. I would look elsewhere
Just wow. Went there early on a Sunday and the barista hadn’t shown up yet but there was one guy there who made me an excellent latte, he even tossed out an espresso shot that hadn’t extracted perfectly and remade it. 10/10 would recommend in a heartbeat
I loved stopping in here for coffee on a rainy day with friends. The vanilla latte with oat milk is 👌🏼
I came to pick up an order between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm that I had placed earlier today and the place closed five minutes early.
Quaint little shop right next to the library. The barista was friendly and knowledgeable of the drink menu.
Excellent! Very good coffee, really nice staff! Highly recommend!
This place is awesome! Great coffee, chill environment, excellent and friendly baristas. It's a perfect place to work and relax. They have a variety of different coffees from around the world and they don't pretentiously overcharge for it. I would give them 6 stars out of 5 if possible!
Had the London Fog. Loved it. Please note all these photos do not seem to be of the current location at the library.
Superb iced London fog!! Flat white was great too.
Great coffee, long shot. Most accommodating barista, made a copy of a Dunkin' donuts swill for my grandson. Said it was the best iced macchiato he ever had.
I really did not enjoy my iced lattes, which tasted a lot like Starbucks. I also did not enjoy stale my cookies. The ice cream options looked great but I did not try them. The place was quite clean.
Nice cafe in the library, am not sure where the cafe lounge was because all I noticed was the main order area near the elevators. Just a few seatings spots and turntable for some old records. I probably missed it or something, but from what I saw its a nice small spot at the library. Latte ($5.30): Surprisingly nice and strong! I thought it would have been diluted by the milk, but the balance leans more towards the coffee. Its a good strong taste that will also wake you up. Great coffee!
I was excited to find this place, as there are not enough quality coffee shops around. I don’t like walking into a shop and getting a clueless look from a worker when I have asked a question that would be obvious to anyone who truly is skilled at their craft. i.e. “where do you get your beans from?” or “how are your beans roasted?” should not elicit a blank stare. The barista here was no novice, and seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. That was a pleasant surprise, because the two don’t always go hand in hand. I would go back just to chat with them again. 😊 I ordered a decaf latte and a cold brew for hubs. I was happy to learn that whole milk is standard, unless otherwise requested, as it should be. Thank you!! The latte was okay, not spectacular, (I should note that drinking a beautiful coffee drink from a paper cup does make me cringe, ahh!! one more thing Covid has ruined!! But possibly this contributed to my disappointment more than the drink itself) The cold brew was a bit disappointing - I like my cold brew like I wish my hair would look; strong, smooth and silky! It was not as smooth as it should have been and tasted watered down. I definitely want to try again as I am hoping maybe it was just a bad batch of cold brew. The mere fact alone that they also have cronuts as one of their baked offerings is enough to entice me back. I am hoping for greater things on my second visit. All said and done, it is still a wayyy better option than any of the chain coffee shops that charge you exorbitant prices and subsequently hand you a cup of what tastes like ashtray droppings. I would definitely recommend you give this coffee shop a visit and am really looking forward to my next visit.
Truly outstanding coffee. Great service. It has a very open seating area that is small.
Bump n' Grind is back ! They are true masters of the flat white, serving at the right temperature, size, and with milk foamed to the texture of wet paint ... delicious ! ( Not true in the ice cream shop location) The 930 bagel sandwich is generously sized and very tasty. The new location is smaller and not nearly as chill, but I will be a repeat customer... Maybe the best flat white in DC .
One of the best espresso shot I've had in a long time. Highly recommend if you want to go grab a good quality cup of coffee.
