It is no kidding this place has 5 stars. This was our first stop on our mini trip to Maine, and it did not disappoint! We got a drip coffee and iced coffee, which I’m the iced coffee is hands down the smoothest I’ve ever had. 1/2 avocado toast with egg and a bacon and egg sandwich. The sandwich had the perfect ratio of melts cheese to other toppings. The avocado mash was packed with flavor. They also offer a habanero chili oil if you like spice, be careful because it’s hot, but damn it’s good. My lips are still tingling from it. You guys gotta come and check this place out. It is to die for.

The BEST avocado toast I ever had. Forget every place that claims they know how to make an avocado toast and go here. Burundi Star's avocado toast is divine. You'll want to have it every morning, every day, with a delicious iced latte. Plus, you're supporting a Black owned business with a great mission to help sustainable coffee growers in Africa. The millennial in you (or the wanna-be millennial in you) will be very happy you read my review.

Their breakfast sandwich is good, but their coffee is great. Don't pass this one up, it's worth the extra walk or drive down Congress St. -Jacie Leopold

Great coffee, great food, great service. Workman smoking out front and electrical work, and some business meeting while eating so not the best atmosphere. Guessing that is not the usual though. Fun decorations.

Some of the best coffee that my wife and I have ever had. We missed it after our visit it to Portland, so we had some beans shipped to our home.

Great spot for a quick bite, hearty lunch or latte. Their homemade vegetarian sambousa is filling and flavorful - I could eat 10! Lovely and welcoming owners.

Amazing coffee and great service. Nice little storefront with lots of natural light and a few tables in addition to window seating. Busy stream of people but not crowded. Coffee tastes smooth and rich.

Excellent coffee. Really smooth brew, and the mochas are excellent as well. Some chocolates have an aftertaste, however the chocolate they use has a velvety mid-cacao content that tastes more like a proper chocolate as opposed to the more Dutch cocoa flavor others use. The sambusa is delicious as well, with a pleasant spiciness as well. My wife got avocado toast which uses a thick bread topped with a beautiful avocado spread made to order. The spread is not over processed, leaving some nice chunks of avocado.

Wonderful, unique coffee. Only place in the United States where you can get coffee from Burundi. Great entrepreneurial story!

Love this coffee shop! If you’re looking for a true high quality cup of coffee in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere you must try this out. The owners are wonderful and will teach you about the roasting process and history if you want to know.

Small coffee shop, reasonable pricing, no frills coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Coffee and food was delicious! If you order food, expect to wait around 5 to 15 minutes as there are only 1 to 2 people cooking. But rest assured they are making your food fresh and with love. Definitely worth it!

There are places where you can feel the warmth. This is one of them! The food and people here are lovely. We tried Banana soup for the first time here and it was tasty. Loved the Avocado toast as well. Coffee and Chai were good too.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My husband and I are very picky with places we eat and the experience that we have while eating out. They have an art to making their food. We tried everything. Coffee and food,it was so fresh and tasty.. for the avocado toast, they cut a freshly baked loaf right in front of you! Come here!!

Wonderful spot with a great owner/story. Coffee, red tea, and sambousas were delicious! Super friendly, I told them about a red latte (rooibos tea latte) I’ve had elsewhere and they made me a latte with Burundi tea—it was just the cozy beverage I needed on a rainy day <3
