Tucked away in the Garden District of New Orleans is a tiny boutique hotel named Columns that takes you into a secret world. One old and new and mysterious. I stopped there for cocktails on a recent Nola visit…and can’t stop thinking about it. Try their signature Sazerac, maybe a small nosh or two, but sit for the amazing vibe. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

They say you can leave your heart in a city. I say, “You can find it!” The, “Thump thump thump thump” of the wheels on concrete slabs connecting airport to hotel. The steam on the windows. Crescent moon and vivid starry skies, fed a sultry night, arriving in New Orleans after a heady day of flight. Nearing our final destination, and anticipating what was impressed in my mind from photos and fantasy of a hotel in New Orlean’s history. Beckoning me to meet. Like a dream, the ease of transitioning from travel and the unfamiliar, to familiarity, time and trepidation no longer existed and, lured by raucous late night conversation, the veil was dynamically lifted. To our right, the divine, late night shop talk of the weary wards of industry was heard. We pricked up our ears and entered into the ornate chamber of the bar. For we had stumbled into the after work camaraderie of the hotel employees. It was wonderful. It was obvious they loved working here. They enjoyed the diversity of talking to both hotel guests and restaurant patrons. YES! There is a fabulous restaurant on location. A Monday night oyster bar happy hour. Wine. Bubbly. Booze. Burgers. Quiche! So eclectic. And well executed. The restaurant is divine. Rooms are so unique. Four-poster king beds with luxurious sheets and mountains of pillows. Claw-foot bathtubs, details details.. There’s such a good vibe here. We were pampered, while also feeling like family. There’s so much to enjoy here. So much to love about staying here. It’s smack dab in such a perfect location. If you can get a room reserved. Do it!! This is a highly sought after retreat. Check out the photos. We absolutely loved our stay here.

I used to live in NOLA and the Columns bar was one of my go-to happy hour spots. I loved it then because I was in grad school and the location along with cheap happy hour drinks perfectly fit my lifestyle. I visited again recently and was so impressed with the remodeling and bar food/drink upgrade. Awesome happy hour snacks and cocktails and, as always, great atmosphere and staff.

Classic NOLA mansion turned small hotel on St. Charles Ave. Individually styled rooms. Location for the movie "Pretty Baby"

Great spot for dinner! I came here with friends and we enjoyed the experience immensely. Food was fresh and delicious, cocktails were spot-on, and the service was immaculate. The ambiance is classy but not stuffy. We sat outside but the interior is also unique and beautiful. After dinner, we walked around Charles Avenue and checked out all the beautiful buildings lining the street. Highly recommend for a relaxing and leisurely dining experience!
