Had an iced coffee that was very good. The poppy seed muffin was a bit hard. Yesterdays? We sat outside on this beautiful day. It's so nice to have outside seating.

Great coffee shop with reasonable prices that I stopped by on my way out of Lawrence this morning. Large variety of coffee to choose from. The barista explained things well and even offered to make anything I wanted that they are capable of doing. I appreciated the extra mile to offer custom orders. My coffee was made quickly and was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the regulars that came through were treated as friends by the staff. Apparently you can ask to see the roaster/freshly roasted beans in house but I didn't have time to do that this morning. Guess I will have to go back again!

I’ve been going here for a while and am absolutely in love this this place. The coffee is amazing and so is the food. The service is also always amazing. But overall I think the owner is the best part. He is always friendly and is so passionate about coffee. I love going here and highly recommend.

J&S has been my favorite coffee shop for almost 4 years. I started going there when I was a sophomore at KU and continue to visit there as I can. I love the atmosphere, the baristas, and Steve the owner! What I love is that Steve is willing to work alongside his baristas and always makes sure the customers are satisfied. The baristas are super fun and very good at their job. I love coming in during different seasons to see their decorative seasonal drink chalk board. On top of that they have several different unique coffee options for year round. Truly one of the few coffee shops that has more than a small handful of signature drinks. I also buy my coffee beans from here and they are consistently fabulous and roasted to perfection. I love this place and will always come back to it!

The drinks are amazing and the baristas are friendly while firmly discouraging over familiarity, which I appreciate, having watched too many men think that they were living in a romantic comedy. I have two complaints about this place, neither of which keep me from coming back repeatedly. First, the food menu is nearly non existent (just a bakery case where "when it's gone it's gone"). If I could make a meal there I would spend more money. However, this may be related to my second complaint: sometimes the place is too crowded to find a table. Maybe the lack of food is to encourage patrons to enjoy their drinks and move on. In any event, a great place for drinks. Not so great for food/lingering. Still a solid five stars. Go there.

This has become my go to coffee shop. Their beans are roasted in store and their espresso and coffee is smooth full bodied and incredibly flavorful. You will never mistake this place for one of the chain coffee spots their seating and decor is on the rustic side. Their baristas are as talented as they are kind and they support local are by hanging works by locals all over the shop and offer them for sale. If you haven’t been you are missing out. Go now!

My sister (Lawrence resident) recommended and it did not disappoint! Very welcoming and personalized; they even fixed us a sample as we described what we liked! Highly recommend the Valencio btw

Amazing coffee, the environment is great, the art is ever changing and I love it. Staff is super sweet and always has a good recommendation if you want it. Of course it's December but it's worth noting that there is outdoor seating, so when the weather gets a bit nicer you can enjoy your 5 star drink outside too :)

Best coffee & tea shop in Lawrence The owner is super nice and knowledgeable, and all the baristas are so personable. There really seems to be a sense of community at the shop. I love going there to work and/or study! They have the best matcha and loose leaf tea I've ever had--I lived in Japan for several months and the quality is comparable to being back there.

Ok, what? What is this place doing in a strip mall on the edge of town? I’ll never go anywhere else when I’m in Lawrence. This is the friendliest coffee shop I’ve ever been to, anywhere.

This charming neighborhood coffee shop has been my favorite for years. They serve a wide variety of coffee drinks from high calorie to expresso-based to basic roast. The space itself is warm and welcoming. One of their best features are the huge bookshelves stacked with books in a variety of genres. It's a "take one/leave one" set-up, and I've found some great reads! In a world where chain establishments reign, this locally owned establishment is a real gem.
