This coffee shop is wonderful! Buy a pound of coffee, drink a coffee, and get a sticky bun!!!!!

Zanzibar's is a wonderful place to have a quaint meet up with your friends and brighten your crummy rainy day. I go for the cortado and slice of almond bread or the cortado and another cortado as they request that you spend over five dollars to use a card. They purposefully have no wifi so you can spend more time enjoying the company that you come to have a good time with.

Wonderful atmosphere; beans roasted in house; most confident and bold espresso pulled in Des Moines, hands down

Nice Americano in a comfortable environment. Not sure why I've never been here but I'll be back.

Always my favorite place for eggs and coffee! I always stop in at least once while I'm in Des Moines visiting!

I tell everyone I know about Zanzibar. It is literally the best coffee in the metro. I have tried many others but Zanzibar espresso has me coming back all the time. Their fair is simple but delicious. But really, THE COFFEE, you can't go wrong. It is not a drive through place, sobring a friend a enjoy the local art and enjoy the best coffee you will find around town.

Excellent hot chocolate (not too sweet which is what we like), the coffee was very good. It's what you'd expect a coffee shop to be.

We were driving through Des Moines and were searching for a coffee shop - Zanzibar's stood out as a great place to try and we were so glad we stopped here!! Incredible mocha breve and sweet cream coffee - my only regret is that I didn't order multiples!! The flavor of the beans were crafted and curated so well - I wish we lived closer because this place would be a staple for us if we lived in the Des Moines area. Oh, and did I mention the banana bread?? Seriously amazing - some of the best I've ever had - great flavor, wasn't dry, and a substantial sized slice. The place was packed out too, so you knew from the start that it was a great place. The baristas were focused yet friendly and I felt comfortable asking questions if needed. The next time we're in the area, we'll definitely be back and I'll know to double up on my order too!

Fantastic experience - great atmosphere, vibe, staff and coffee. It is a little dark inside the cafe and it can get quite loud. Seating is hard to find too on weekends, but it is still worth going and waiting for a spot. We sat out on the back patio and it was awesome. Highly recommend!

She and I did not enjoy this place. Each ordered a caramel latte, and they are super plain, with literally no flavor. To add to this, the smalls are $5 a cup, so we especially thought we'd be getting something that can compete with local shops. I respectfully don't believe this one is a competitor, especially when it comes to pricing. I'd recommend the owner checking in on their staff to ensure they're making drinks correctly. These were just bad.

Excellent experience - owner takes pride in her business, waits on customers, and checks in to ensure everything meets your expectations. Coffee and atmosphere are both phenomenal! You must visit Zanzibar's!

I have been bringing my 16-year-old grandsons to Zanzibar’s for years. We all love the atmosphere, the food and the friendly staff. The boys like that the staff members acknowledge them. Cool place.

Best coffee in the metro. I get my beans here for making espresso at home. The owner knows her stuff and I fully rely on her for good beans in this city.

No WiFi but has no sign stating it. Found out only after I ordered. Felt cheated. Also, I said “room for cream” and no one bothered to give me any cream. This place is on its way out.

We ordered inside which it smelled amazing, and sat out on the back patio, which was small. But it was able to fit our group of 6 and a couple of other ladies not with us who sat on a bench. The coffee was good. The staff, very accommodating. I'd definitely recommend it.
