This place is a little gem! The coffee and atmosphere are perfectly balanced and designed with people in mind. Do yourself a flavor favor and go here! Prices are par for specialty roasters- also, they have sustainability as a core belief. (Recyclable, Reusable glass mugs((see picture))Des Moines should have this place in every neighborhood!
I got a shot, cortado and an iced lavender thyme latte. Spending around $15. Horizon line is a cute little spot! The baristas were SO friendly. You could tell they enjoyed what they were doing. They also had tons of options for syrups! 2 gender neutral bathrooms and Wi-Fi.
Bourbon peach latte was amazing as was the hummingbird latte ( daily specials)
Horizon Line is what every community needs. They bring well-intentioned coffee roasted in-house sourced with a keen eye for driving an equitable supply chain. They provide a space for all within the community to enjoy while going beyond in providing stunning specialty coffee - seriously they KNOW their coffee and drive great values. Brad, Nam, Miranda, Kenzie, Ellie, Jaryn, and Nathan will take care of you. Especially that Nam guy, sheesh!
Definitely one of the top 10 coffee shops I've visited. I really appreciated their atmosphere, green initiatives, and aptitude pertaining to roasting and brewing. Definitely worth going out of your way to visit.
Hands down my favorite local coffee shop (and there are some good ones). Best people, super creative drinks, and strong ethics. This is a business I’m always proud to support.
Arrived late near closing time, but I enjoyed sitting down in this beautiful space, with an exceptional cup of freshly brewed tea from Spirit Teas. I don't drink coffee, so I always try to spot places where they have a nice selection. Horizon Line didn't disappoint! Also there was this v cute guy, long hair, cap, glasses, that I wish I'd have talked too. Sorry, I'm oversharing here. 🙃
My husband picked us up coffee to go. Coffee was in jelly jars with coozies. Adorable.
I visited for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed how creative and tasty their coffee was. I ordered an iced frosty and it was delicious, as was the scone I ordered. The decor is minimalist, bright and open, which is my preferred taste and environment for creative work. Prices were fair. I will be returning.
everytime i come in everyone working is super sweet asking about my day and making small talk which can be hard sometimes after a busy day. they always have such positive attitudes and make me and my friends feel comfortable and welcomed everytime! love that nearly everything is vegan as well! great classic options and seasonal options to try too, will always recommend and the caramel apple scones are to die for ❤️

Making coffee cool since 2019 (i think 2019). This place is the best - their coffee is legit and if coffees not for you try the sparkling tea. YUM
Had high expectations- a friend recommended it and the reviews were good. Was not disappointed! The barista that prepared my pour-over also roasts the coffee, so I appreciated that.
I really can't say enough about this coffee shop. We were on a trip from Detroit to Denver, Colorado and our electric Ford F-150 lightning and it had been a hectic cold trip. What a blessing to come to this coffee shop. Super relaxed atmosphere. Amazingly friendly people and the food and the coffee are fantastic. I'm not vegan per se, but I can tell you that the vegan scones i had the caramel apple and my wife had the blackberry chai were absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to our stop on the way back. Ask for Brad. He can tell you all about the amazing coffee.
We love the people and the coffee here. I have no idea how they come up with their ever changing and inventive latte flavors. Just great!
My group was was minding our own business taking pictures and the workers were making fun of us and laughing at us. 10/10 don’t recommend if you want to feel like you’re not in a judge mental place.
Highly recommend! A gem in the downtown DSM area. Consistently great service, atmosphere, ownership, and most importantly, great coffee.
The coffee is the best in Des Moines, no contest. More impactful than that, though—the experience here is consistently incredible. The staff here are masterful at creating a welcoming, hospitable, and unpretentious experience. Their seasonal rotating specials are artful, their classic drinks consistently second-to-none, and their passion for their customers and community are present with every visit. I admire their passion for “the glass revolution” (serving to-go drinks in reusable jars) and the commitment to a beautifully curated, minimal, yet cozy atmosphere. This is a must-visit if in Des Moines, or even in Iowa. I only wish they were open later, I would visit every evening if I could.
Every town needs a reliable roaster. A crew of lovely people! A warm drink from here really brightens my day. Couldn’t ask for more:)
