Visited Centro 5:30 Saturday for drinks and a snack . Sat in the bar. Drinks were ok. Mule served in grubby, abused copper mug. Mulberry gin drink overly sweet and boring. Ordered a small pizza with sausage, onion and red pepper. Pizza tasted stale like it had been prepped earlier. Toppings weren’t cooked. Pizza was dry and disappointing. Waiter was a dud. No cocktail napkins , wet table , discarded squeezed lime wedge left on table entire stay. We have had good meals and service here. Not this time.

Just heard about Centro ladt week and thought it was worth the 1.5 hr drive to check it out on Mothers day. It did not disappoint. You open the doors and walk into friendly staff and white tablecloths. The atmosphere was upscale but not pretentious so dont be worried about if you are dressed up enough or not. We had the cheese dip that came with onions, mushrooms and garlic in it with a side of grilled peta bread to start. The meal also came with fresh baked roles that had delicious onion/ garlic baked into it. We made our own large pizza and it is large. Very generous with the toppings. Crust had that good balance of charred texture to hold everything together but soft and airy on the inside. Prices are not out of line for a good night out especially for handmade Italian food.

Food has always been good. Service good. It's just always so loud and feels slow...

Food was just ok. Honestly nothing different from pick any of your chain restaurants. Our party of 3 ordered rib eye, salmon, and some pasta. The mussels were good but our entrees were just ok. I had the flourless chocolate cake and that was bad so don’t get that. Really nice people though.

I love Italian food and this is one of the better options in the Des Moines area, although it is not my favourite. The food is extremely flavourful, the atmosphere is fancy but not overly decadent, the service prompt without feeling smoothering and the prices reasonable if not a just little high. I'm particularly fond of their Gnocchi and think it's the highlight of their menu.

Great little gem of Des Moines. Amazing atmosphere and simple yet fine cuisine that's as tasty as it looks.

I don’t think I’ve had a bad dish! My favorite is the grilled chicken with broccolini, the lemon white wine butter sauce is amazing that comes on it! Unfortunately I don’t have picture, I’ll make sure to get pictures next time!

Great atmosphere and great cocktails and drinks. Food was slow to come out. It took over an hour for our appetizers to arrive. The appetizers were nothing special. For the main course most of our table had pasta dishes- they say they are handmade but it tasted bought in. The pasta sauce tasted like something one could cook at home very easily. It did not look appetizing, especially the cavatelli. The pizza was decent. Steak was thin, overcooked, and very bland. Meat quality was low. One of our party had stomach issues that night after returning home.

Was in town for 3 days and ended up going back twice. Amazing food and service. Was there for lunch and then grabbed dinner the next night. The onion rings are ridiculous, so good. I had sausage pizza- Top 5 all time favorite.

Food was great although no separate gluten free menu items, and the server made suggestions on choices. Portions sizes are large even for lunch.

In town for business conference. We had a group of 25 directors of culinary services. Tera Lee was our server and was simply amazing. Came in on her day off to just serve our group, and we were amazed!! Can we steal her?? Food was also outstanding!! Would visit Des Moines again just to come to Centro!!

For years, Centro has provided not just great food, but great meals...the atmosphere, service, food, everything together makes for memories made. We've had two of our children born near Centro, and each time, one treat was getting Centro-to-go while we were in the hospital, and that is a fun small token memory of the joy we had just received, entering into our family and the world. Centro--thank you!

Nice Italian place with a slightly casual vibe with pizzas, pastas, steaks, seafood, and good cocktails. We particularly enjoyed the crab cakes, the red sauce pasta with Italian sausage, and most of all the 8 oz filet centro - perfectly prepared rare and super tender! Only downside I always mention - they tack on a 2.75% “non cash adjustment” to all bills, even before you present a credit card. They also charge this if you pay using a gift card which is a bit under handed since that literally is their cash.
