I LOVE Daytime! I’ve been coming here for the past few months and I can truly say that this is among the best brunch spots in Ames, and arguably in Central Iowa. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff is incredible and focused on making every experience memorable. Staff there like Emily truly go the extra mile! Above all the food is delightful. Truly one of the hidden gems in Ames.
It is a nice coffee shop with nice atmosphere. The reason I didnt give it 5 star for atmosphere is it is very small and very busy so a bit noisy and for first time unsure if i should find a seat or order and wait. Music is good. Food is presented very nice and taste is good.
First time checking out Daytime Diner and what a GEM it is! The brunch was phenomenal and the coffee was easily the best in Ames! I am disappointed in myself for waiting this long to try this amazing establishment. I am excited to come back!
First time in today, and would love to come back. The barista had great recommendations and everything was delicious. The place is adorable, the staff is fantastic and the food is killer. What else do you need. If you are in the area you should check it out.
My son and I have been talking about coming here since we moved to Ames and I'm so glad we finally did! It's absolutely adorable on the inside, and the food and drinks were amazing!! I had a macha lavender and my son had orange juice and we both got a burrito. Everything was absolutely amazing and cheap. My son made sure before leaving to tell the cashier lady that he gave the place "5 million out of 5 stars!" Lol! Will definitely make this a regular spot for us 🥰
Breakfast place
I got the French toast this morning at brunch and it was AT LEAST A 12/10!
VERY limited menu, but the food was pretty good.
Unique atmosphere, nostalgic. Very nice people, amazing coffee.
Had an excellent breakfast burrito. Service was great, I didn't go at a busy time so I can't attest to their ability to handle that, but when I went it was speedy and welcoming
This place has such a pleasant atmosphere. The espresso drinks are good, but their pour-over is the real star! The food is always excellent, try the Brioche French Toast! I’ve also learned their coffee beans here are from Kinship Coffee in NYC. Turns out the owners also own that business. The beans are top notch, some of the best coffee I’ve EVER had, right here in Ames! Definitely check this place out.
Refreshingly nice spot in Ames
Great breakfast.
Delicious food! The jewel color scheme is unique and fun. The food is delicious, and there are a variety of options. It's also cozy!
Kitchen closes before the rest of the shop.
This place is expensive - just keep that in mind going in. Otherwise, the coffee is pretty good, service is excellent and the location itself is beautiful. It can be quite crowded on the weekend, so just keep that in mind. I wouldn't pay $5.50 for my daily coffee, but it is absolutely fine every now and then.
I like the design on the inside and the food and coffee is great. But i will probably not go again for breakfast. What they served is great but I'm a fried egg person and they only serve scrambled eggs. When I asked for an OM instead of scrambled they made it sound like a huge favor and it will never happen again. Guess I've never been to a breakfast place that didn't do eggs in a couple different ways. Fyi I ordered eggs, bacon, and toast. I would rate it 5 stars but not offering fried egg as an option at a breakfast place is a dealbreaker for me.
🥺
Very nice.. open free space..
Daytime diner was one of the places I wanted to visit while living in Ames and it finally happened this morning! I enjoyed their brunch menu and coffee a lot. They had a very interesting pour over coffee machine which seemed to make coffee pretty good. I hope I can come back soon to try their other food options. Looking forward to trying their waffles next time. :)
