Stopped by after a dinner at Homey Hot Pot. The dessert choices were very good. We had Chocolate Explosion, PB and Chocolate, Turtle (mine). Everyone enjoyed their choice

Nicely done. Haven't been since the old moose. Payed homage to their roots well with lots of old photos on the walls and a cool new atmosphere.

So happy to return here 23 years later and see that the kid “torch” soft serve cone is STILL 25 cents! Miss seeing the original “shack” but happy Chocolate Moose has grown! It was my favorite stop years ago with our 4 little kids after I’d pick up the RN on-call bag for Hospice of Bloomington to work the weekends! Two of those kids were born at Bloomington Hospital which no longer exists?!! Bought me a Chocolate Moose t-shirt this time and splurged on a hot fudge sundae with chocolate peanut butter homemade ice cream which is the BEST sundae I’ve ever had! I received the order quickly and was so happy the person working remembered the original “shack” and updated me. Long live Chocolate Moose!! Not to be missed!!

We saw this recommended for inexpensive sandwiches and the ice cream. The sandwich prices have gone up, apparently, and were not good enough to be worthy of the new prices ($7-$8 each with no sides). Very basic, average lunch and breakfast sandwiches. Also got a blueberry muffin ($5) which was terrible... tasted like it was days old. VERY dry and the saran wrap taste was all over the muffin. We did like our sundae.

Every time I’m in Bloomington I make a stop at the chocolate moose. The grasshopper is hands down the best mint ice cream I’ve ever had.

The portion size compared to the price you pay is ridiculous. 3 small cups of ice cream and a drink was over $30. The staff seemed bothered by having to answer questions about their product and were generally unfriendly. If the price didn't keep me away, the staff would. Definitely not a place I would ever go again. Edit - I'm just now seeing the response from the owner. Raising it to three stars on account of the kindness of the owner.

Really good ice cream including unique/local originals. The waffle cones were a little stale.

Best ice cream in Bloomington, I would even say in southern Indiana! The staff are always quick and always nice. It’s a great place to go with a larger group because of the fast service and good seating.

My only criticism is how expensive it is. Great ice cream though and I love the walk up window option. If you have the money to splurge on an expensive indulgence, I do suggest coming here.

I ordered a mint milkshake. Then I had to explain to the girl how to make a mint milkshake. Then I got the worst mint milkshake ever. They put so much mint flavor into it as to make it inedible. Tasted like concentrated mouthwash. So I told the girl that it was inedible and she took it and walked away. Didn't offer to get me a new one. Didn't offer to give me my money back. Just walked away. I will never go back.

That was a nice ice cream place in Bloomington, In. I enjoyed it, even though it was a lil chilly outside.

Excellent ice cream and friendly staff. BUT I’m not going to continue giving my business to restaurants that add a service fee to customers that pay with a credit card. Why are businesses doing this?! Have credit card companies raised what they charge merchants? I’m guessing they haven’t. It’s just a new trend, similar to pre-tipping at the counter when ordering before you’ve even tasted your food or seen how the service is.
