The coffee beans you are selling Mauna Kea on the big island are poor quality or the brewing is poorly executed or both.

This is a window where you can go and sample/buy fresh small batch local and international craft coffee beans. The ideal customer probably enjoys black coffee and isn’t looking for a frilly sugar beverage. If you are this type of customer, as I was, then you will indeed find this place to be a literal coffee “paradise”. I’m guessing anyone who didn’t rate this place 5 stars doesn’t realize/appreciate what this place is or was looking for a different type of business instead.

The barista was great, let us taste some options and explained the different processes. Coffee was fantastic too.

Our barista was very knowledgable about coffee and brewing process. Gave us a good quick rundown about their coffee samplers. They use medium-light roast coffee with good acidic fruity flavors. Good experience overall. Only downside is that they don’t have tables and seats to enjoy coffee. (Hand drip and cold brew only - no espresso for those of you who want a cafe latte or a morning cappuccino).

This place brewed me the best cup of coffee I ever had. If you love black coffee this is your place to visit. I’ve been looking for a coffee shop the last year to match the quality of a local shop I go to and this is the only place that’s done it and they blew my local shop out of the park. Note this isn’t a cafe with seating to enjoy your coffee and do other things but you won’t be disappointed with the product your given.

If you're someone who appreciates third-wave expertly roasted coffee with very unique flavor profiles, then this is a must-try in Hilo. The very knowledgeable barista had me sample a few different coffees before choosing the one I liked best. I can't stress enough how delicious this coffee was. It's not Starbucks but if you're looking for a unique experience while visiting Hilo, then go check them out!

Wow! Really the most creative bean processing with emphasis on complex and rare flavor profiles (orange creamsicle Colombian) I’ve encountered. Staff were also very knowledgeable and friendly. Top notch!

If you are a person who likes "coffee flavored coffee" or "flavored coffee"; this is not the place for you. If you like very interesting small batch experimental coffees made in small lots from individual farms, this place is for you. There is an insane breadth of flavors you can get when you treat coffee fruit/beans the way they do. I've been getting specialty coffee for years now, and this place made the single best cup of coffee I've ever had. They have free samplings of their coffee, so you can try a few before you buy. In a world where most coffee is fast food, this is the slow food.

I was looking for a coffee shop to sit down in for awhile and saw there sign. They are a roaster let's see if they have a sit down. Nope. Instead you have a girl at the counter engaged in conversation it seems I interrupted. We have pour over or what's on the menu she mentioned twice. So I clarified that there was nowhere to sit and enjoy the brew and she sternly explained that they are a roaster. Yet it dose say in the ad they are a coffee shop? An uncomfortable one. I let her get back to her conversation. I won't bother any further. I am glad I didn't purchase before learning what kind of coffee shop they were.

This place provides BEST coffee in Big island(in my opinion). I tried a couple of popular ones like HICO, KONA coffee and tea etc., not saying they are not good, but if you are a coffee lover, and want some good quality real espresso, drip coffee, cold brew from good quality KONA beans, Paradise Coffee Roaster is the place you’d have to check. The Barista is also very knowledgeable and professional, the young gentleman offered 4 different samples, each of them I can easily tell the strong flavor like tropical fruit, lavender, cocoa, red wine, which is a sign of good coffee. It’s amazing that at Hilo side, I randomly walked in a coffee shop and found such a hidden gem! I would definitely try their pour over if I had time. But the 2 cold brews I ordered were already super!

Phenomenal coffee. The cleanest and most complex cup I have had in a long time. I wish I could move right above the place.

$12 for one cup of black cold brew coffee. Tasted old and super acidic. I would give 1 star but I was offered a free sample, which I refused. I just didn’t expect the coffee to be that expensive or taste that bad. Accept the free sample and prepare to pay over top dollar.

Best coffee that I’ve had on the Big Island. I appreciate how they are purists and only offer pour overs and cold brew instead of milk and/or sugar bombs. And they offer samples!
