I went to La Tomate on in DuPont Circle on a Saturday around lunch time. We sat outside and it was a great experience, overall. I had the salmon with potato purée - the salmon was so perfectly cooked and the entire dish was so yummy! My friends really enjoyed their food as well - they had the carpaccio salad, eggs Benedict, and the linguini pasta. Everything was just perfect. The only thing that I was not happy with was that the server was very unpleasant when I asked him to split the check based on what we are. We were only 4 people, and generally, it's not an issue. He was rude about splitting the check, so we split it equally. Other than that, I loved the place.

A restaurant with a french name that serves only italian food, serving italian food that wasn’t done properly in anyway. Didn’t enjoy and it the dishes that I ordered. The bread was under fermented and under baked, the salmon and the soup weren’t seasoned and the Tiramisu was plain.

Bad service and rude staff especially the older waiter, they should be changed. They also try to charge you expensive things you didn’t order. Unacceptable.

First time visiting, and I will not be back here again. The food was less than average and very small portions. According to the price it’s a joke honestly to position themselves as a proper restaurant with these kind of expensive prices, and the dishes are not even fit for a child to feel full. The stuff and service is horrible. The weather made a mistake when punching our order and try to make us pay for it with the higher price and after we asked him to fix the bill he wouldn’t and said oh, but you ate the dish even though we said this is not what we ordered because we were trying to be nice and didn’t want to send the dish back, he tried to argue and we felt like he was outright, making us pay double for some thing we didn’t order, even though it was his mistake when punching the order, because we are very clearly asked what the dish was before we ordered it, and he even explain to us how it is presented before we ordered, but we received something else. I don’t get that the menu is Italian and the restaurant name is French. This place is ridiculous. Extremely rude waiters with an attitude and not friendly. Do not come here it’s not worth it.

Great ambiance, outstanding service. Italian family run. Succulent lamb chops and tasty Swiss chard ravioli.

Normally I would have given this restaurant a true 5 star review for my 1st visit but I went there with my wife for her birthday and thr food was excellent but the service was extremely horrible. I felt like we were being rushed and what made me angry was when we finished the waiter came by and asked "are you finished" I felt as though the wait staff wanted us out. I doubt I will be back again, and I will let people know in regards to this problem

Lovely Italian spot in Dupont. Service is good. For those who like to be frugal the Mon-Fri 11am-3pm menu is best. You MUST specify BEFORE you begin to order that you are doing the 3 course meal option otherwise you will be charged a la carte (individually paying for each item) which will be more expensive. The 3 course includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert for $34. The serving sizes are not tiny but they are not large either. If you are super hungry it may not fill you up. The Salmon is wonderful, perfectly cooked with a small serving of sugar snap peas, and asparagus. All in all it is fresh, good quality food that is appropriately priced. Wonderful spot! Must go.

We dined at La Tomate previously with very good food and service. Today was the exception. We were seated before three other tables; however they received their main courses before we were even served our wine. Our waiter was huffy from the start. It was a lunch, set menu. Not complicated. My wife ordered the three course menu and I only ordered the Cesar salad. After we waited nearly 30 minutes without anything except water I went to talk to the manager. The manager's excuse was that they were understaffed and many patrons came in at the same time. I am sorry, that doesn't cut it with me. How hard is it to get someone a glass of wine within a 30 minute window! We are local. We walked and will not be back.

Excellent pasta dishes. Professional and fast service. Though we were never served one of the starters we ordered. Unfortunately I found the restaurant lacking in a sense of hospitality to he extent that I do not think I will return.

La Tomate is well-located and has a very charming interior. The menu is varied (although they do not offer pizza of any kind), and everything we ordered was satisfactory - nothing more, nothing less.

As a St Louis native, I love good Italian food and it’s always interesting to visit other cities to see where they set the bar. La Tomate does an all around good job and the food was very good. The decor was nice but not noteworthy. Service was great. Would be happy to go back, but will keep looking for the noteworthy Italian place in DC.

Cozy, little Italian place with authentic and delicious food. Staff was friendly and spoke Italian, a bonus in my book! Prompt service. Lovely decor. Just so much to love about this place!

This was a very great experience. The water was crisp, the ravioli were exceptionally cooked, and the side pasta sauce was exceptional. Also, the bread was soft and toasty. Will definitely come back to try more of the cuisine. Great dining atmosphere and location is close a parking garage.
