Best coffee in Connecticut. They really take pride and show their passion in coffee roasting and brewing. They take the same approach to serving their customers.
Had a wonderful coffee and great service.
Whenever I come here, it’s the hi-light of my morning. The coffee is delicious. You have to try the Apple turnovers - they’re so yummy. Everyone who works here is lovely and I enjoy browsing the Cookshop.
If you're looking for a delicious cup of coffee in a great atmosphere, this is your place. They make the coffee right in front of you and even roast the coffee in house. Try their espresso!
Love this roaster not only for a very good cup of coffee but a very pleasant experience! Very clean. Nice staff.
This is my favorite coffee place. Sometimes the one on Park Road closes before I need my second coffee, so I visit their sister location in West Hartford Center. The coffee is delicious and the shop is always clean. When I was there once I met the owner and his excitement and knowledge around coffee was the best. He loves what he does and strives to bring only top quality to his shop. I now get their beans delivered to my house every month because I don't want other coffee! Definitely a 5 star place!
A neighborhood coffee shop with delicious coffee and a cozy ambiance. Always a great experience!
Stopped in this past Saturday for a Red Eye. It was delicious. I also ended up purchasing a couple bags of amazing coffee from Burundi. If you are a coffee lover this is a place not to be missed. Pick up a few bags of coffee or even better set up a monthly subscription like I just did.
Very unpleasant staff, the coffee is Luke warm and never have I heard a hello or goodbye..or enjoy or have a nice day...
Coffee is smooth and delicious...Every time. Pastries are very tasty- definitely try the crumb cake. Breakfast sandwiches are comfort food with little twists that only enhance the taste. Space is small, but cozy and bright. Service is kind and efficient. Parking is doable (I prefer the street parking- easy in and out). Only negative is there is no public wifi.
Everyone here is passionate about coffee and hospitality. Coffees are roasted in house. They can brew classic espresso drinks, serve quick fresh brewed coffees to go, or, if you have more time, craft exceptional brews using more eccentric methods like Chemex, French press, and siphon brewer. Food selection is expanding and evolving and includes vegan and gluten-free options. Brewing equipment and fresh house-roasted coffees are sold as well. Staff and owners are eager to talk about coffee and share knowledge and stories about coffee. Partnerships with local performers and artists bring vital energy to the shop especially during weekend evening hours. Update: none of this has changed. This shop is still bringing people together around excellent coffee, food, and service. Hours have changed in the wake of a pandemic. Seamless mobile ordering through the Joe app has been added so that time indoors can be minimized when necessary. Some menu items were a casualty, but other great options have replaced them (just today I noticed a new single origin espresso option on the menu). On balance the team has kept up their standards of service and producing excellent coffees. Throughout these challenging times it's hard to see where any of these fundamentals has suffered. I don't know how they do it. Kudos!
Very good, extremely fair prices. Great muffins
Really great really tasty coffee but you guys need to work on your portions and put a little less ice in your cold brew coffee. Comes off as a little skimpy. If both sizes of cappuccino have the same amount of espresso in it why is there a price difference?
This is my second time passing through this town trying J. René and it is still one of my favorite coffee places to go to. Coming from NYC I thought I had tried the best coffee selection already but J. René blew my mind! They are very professional and detailed on the coffee they present. This time I got the Israel Degefa (yeast proceased) and Sumatra (honey processed) to try at home! I strongly recommend their cold brew as it is very well balanced, no taste note is out performed than another. Taste is subjective but for me it is the best cold brew I’ve tasted so far!
I love coming here! Their barista's know what to recommend and specific flavor notes if you are asking for recommendations! Their espresso drinks are top notch! Breakfast sandwiches are the perfect size and pastries are delicious! There are a lot of tables to sit at and every time I've been there, people have been respectful about their noise levels!
Clean and bright inside. Friendly and courteous staff. Great coffee and pastry.
Phenomenal coffee and great staff. Menu was superb and the freshly roasted coffee tastes amazing.
Very good almond milk latte and smoked salmon croissant. Clean, nice staff, nice atmosphere
Great coffee and breakfast/brunch spot.
I got the Monte Cristo which was simply amazing, the ham was perfect, cheese melted and the fruite filling was superb. I also ordered a mocha latte and the coffee is simply phenomenal, the bean was roasted well, amazing froth, and it had a buttery undertone with each sip that made me just drool... I definitely recommend this place no matter what you're looking for. From a small cup of Joe to something more elegant, from the pastries to a full hardy meal, you cannot go wrong here. Even the service was given with huge smiles, 5 stars all the way. Will come again.
