The amount of 4 to 5 star reviews of this “hotel” is alarming to me. Upon arrival we were greeted by two mangy stray dogs. We brought our dog with us and immediately didn’t feel comfortable letting him out of the car. You could tell the building was falling apart just by glancing at it from the outside. Inside the front door there was a sticky note written by the owner that said “any discomfort you feel during your stay is part of the historical experience…we will charge your card.” Not a great sign. The rickety stairs leading up to the room had a 20 degree tilt. The rooms were dark and dingy with a strong mothball smell. No one was there to check us in and this place had the eeriest energy. You could feel the tilt of the building just standing in the rooms. Charging $100 a night is Highway robbery to be frank. When we emailed to express our concerns we never received a response. My assumption is that many people show up, see the conditions, and understandably high tail it out of there - with good reason.
Definitely had a great experience at this hotel AirBNB. Lauren was really awesome with the rooms to the breakfast and coffee this morning. The room I stayed in was very clean and I definitely got a great nights sleep after a day of skiing. I highly recommend the Historic Windsor.
Way overpriced, better off staying in Georgetown, CO which is just down the hill.
We were caught in a snowstorm with 6 kids in the car. We looked into staying here but they were full. But the worst was they wouldn't even let us use the bathroom after being stuck in the car for 4 hours! Kids were crying in the front of the hotel as the woman working there closed the door on our freezing crying family. DO NOT GO HERE.
The building is nice, the room was nice and I appreciate what they are doing for Silver Plume. My only concern is that the breakfast offerings were disappointing. A couple bananas and oranges and a box of cereal. In the fridge there was about a cup of milk and some condiments. No baked goods or anything, instead there was a loaf of white bread. To be fair I was in a rush and didn't reach out to the owners with any concerns.
Enjoyed staying here, lots of history, clean, beautiful mountain setting, bus to take you to George Town for shopping and restaurants. Quite and charming.
What a gem to find on my travels thru Colorado. The story of the building, the owners, the quaintness, and amazing hospitality made staying here a highlight of my trip. I loved the personal touches and service. Would definitely return next time I’m in the area. Don’t miss this unique place rich with stories and Intentional genuineness. ❤️❤️❤️
Car broke down in the mountains, and I was stuck in Georgetown for two days. I initially went with Windsor because it's what I could afford while trying to get my car fixed, but it turned out to be a great choice regardless! I didn't catch her name, but the woman running it was absolutely lovely - she made sure I had wifi, food, and books available after a rough day, and even offered me a ride into town. The rooms are pretty basic, and sharing the bathroom and shower room can be a little frustrating, but the beds are comfortable, the water is hot, the place just oozes quirky historic charm, and I don't think I can overstate how happy I was to have awesome homemade mini quiches on hand after a very long day. If I find myself back in the area, I'd definitely stay there again!
Beautiful, memorable, and historic. We were looking for a stay that would be more special than a hotel and the Historic Windsor Hotel delivered. The floors creek, structure is crooked, and it smells old - which were more reasons for me to fall in love with it. The entire hotel was clean and organized with great attention to detail. The bed was comfortable, the bedroom smelled clean, the owner was friendly, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. I will cherish this stay for many years to come!
Incredibly HISTORIC place with INCREDIBLE AMOUNTS OF CHARACTER and the owner/operator is the BEST THEY COME.... spent 2 pms during the recent late May blizzard...
Genuine hospitality and cozy accommodations. My son fell in love with the pup, Lucky, and made a friend (son of Lauren the owner). How incredibly nice for them to get to play together! Reminds me of a B&B in Victor, CO. Historic and lovely all around. Thanks for the beautiful memory to accompany my son's first snowboarding trip!
It’s been awhile since I stayed here but just had such a positive opinion of this place I had to write a review. This is my favorite place to stay for a ski trip. At first I didnt like the idea of it but it was one of the most comftorable stays i’ve had at a place. The rooms are very clean, it has a very nice welcomy home feeling, and it comes with some nice history to go with it. 10/10 would stay again.
Came across this charming B&B on our road trip to Vegas...so excited to stay here! And bonus points for the simple fact that Thomas Edison & Nikolai Tesla stayed here before us! Can't wait to explore the town in the morning & add our own journal entry!!
Great place to stay! Cozy, clean, near the mountains. ⛰
Absolutely loved our stay at this Hotel! It was our anniversary and she went above and beyond to make it special!!! The owner has a huge heart and bends over backwards for her guests! We will definitely be back!!! With friends! P.s. the homemade quiches were amazing!
Great place very comforble. Liked european bathroom
Don’t stay here. The owner of the home told me how she’s excited to turn people away because of the massive amounts of drug usage here. I waited in my room for an hour or so to see if it would be comfortable and noticed a continuous banging on the window and walls. I can’t sleep with that and left. Asked for a refund and she told me I contaminated her house with antique furniture and that I’ll be charged full price. -_-Muffins in the kitchen had mold on them. The power went out.
Just a super cozy, historic, quirky, comfortable bed and breakfast nestled in the Colorado Rockies. Perfect place to rest your head as you're passing through Colorado, could also see it being super pleasant for a longer stay if you're exploring in the area.
Love this place!!! It's a must stay!!! But remember, this ain't your typical hotel. It's tucked in the mountains, in a very small town, conveniently of I-70, with no immediate accommodations (just a miles drive to Georgetown), so eat before! But who gives??? Just stock up on munchies... There's a dispo right next door that has Dank GUDZ...!!! Blaze the trail my fam-TOKEN-damly... 🌬️🔥💨🔥💨🔥💨🥴😏😁😻🤗💖💙👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼 Won't be disappointed in your stay regardless... And if ya are, just remember... That's on you... 😏😁
Quaint, romantic and cute hotel with lots of history to it. Clean rooms and smelled good, not like a hotel at all. Housekeeping does a really good job! Best of all, I was proposed to in Room 6! Best place to be proposed to, will have the great memory forever! We will definitely be back!
