coffee was delicious but the baristas were extremely rude and condescending to my husbands aunt. i watched them literally roll their eyes when she was taking a minute to decide on what to order. as a barista myself i find this absolutely ridiculous.especially when she wasn’t being rude or difficult she was just being indecisive.

Cool factory setting coffee shop. Very big space, cool huge owl on the wall. Clean restroom. Friendly staffs.

Location has a great vibe, and we love the reuseable jars to avoid single use materials. Coffee is delicious. We also enjoy their non-coffee drinks as well.

Maybe this place is not known for its lattes. I went there for a latte given the great reviews. Not the best I have had. Couldn’t finish it all.

I stopped by to get a pound of coffee beans as a gift. I was here on Feb 18th afternoon, I didn't get their names, but the two employees working were so helpful and knowledgeable. I wasn't sure which coffee besn to purchase they even gave me samples of what they were brewing. My husband loves the coffee I got. Will definitely be back on my next trip to San Diego.

I visited James Coffee on 1/14/23 at around 12pm. Barista on POS was friendly and the transaction went smooth. Unfortunately the negative review starts after I received my drinks. A drink was made incorrectly and I was met with friction when I had asked for a correction. After receiving the correction, I noticed that I didn't get an espresso requested "for here". The barista said that "I must have not been charged for it". Within seconds of the exchange, I was then served an espresso in a takeout cup, noticing that the shot originated from an espresso ready to be served "for here". I find it weird how quickly it was done on account of "not being charged for it". The espresso was obviously dead on account of how cold it was and the lack of any crema. Given it was pretty busy with how long the line was, it might have been an off day for the one barista of three on bar. EDIT: They've responded to the review and I'm currently awaiting for a response regarding the situation. EDIT 2: Amends were made, hoping that steps will be taken to improve baristas on the floor.

Great coffee with an awesome location. One of my favorite coffee shops in SD so far.

We went on the Caffeine Crawl this morning and got to try and experienced the Chemex Coffee in James. The tour guide did a full demonstration of how to make Chemex coffee. It was amazing to see how temperature, grind… effects the results of the coffee. We loved the coffee very much. It is super delicious and flavorful!

Pros: Amazing coffee, vegan options, cool atmosphere, reusable cups and dishes. Cons: Parking sucks in this area (in case anyone hasn't been to Little Italy before), food could be better (but they're obviously focused on the coffee, so I get it).

Love James! Always go for the dirty chai and pastries are yummy. Love that they use glass jars to reduce waste. A little pricey but great quality

I’ve been coming to this James Coffee location for a few years now. It’s simply the best! I suggest trying the single origin cold brew which changed weekly. Their coffee beans are also great if you are a brew your own coffee person. Go early if you don’t like the crowds though or if you aren’t comfortable looking for parking as Little Italy can get quite busy.

A great place to enjoy a good cup of coffee and look around other businesses inside the same structure

I did not want to like this place as much as I did. Top notch americano and I really like how they encourage reusable containers for drinks.

Best coffee in Little Italy and probably in SD. Their costa rica blend is absolutely incredible. Rich and creamy, James coffee offers a great vibe, cool stores inside it's spacious storefront and of course great coffee ☕

I’ve been here a bunch of times and will continue to do so. Parking anywhere in Little Italy is a task by itself so go early soon after they open. Service is good. There’s plenty of seating. Most importantly, the coffee and food are good. I personally like their iced Mexican mocha and iced honey cinnamon latte. On this trip I got the “pull apart bun” and I can’t wait to get it on my next trip! So good.

Loved this place the staff was incredibly friendly and enjoyable to converse with seemed genuinely interested in having me there and eager to answer any questions i had. I went with a oat milk latte per recommendation and it was absolute perfection most creamy latte ive ever had! I make sure to always stop by when in the area!

Service was slow but coffee was fantastic. Very eclectic spot. Had a nice interaction with the gentleman at the register. Very friendly! Long line but worth it.

An exquisite coffee shop. Dog friendly too. Espresso and cookie were both great for just over $7.
