It was not open...opens at 7 I was there about 8
Delicious purple ube flavored cookie + good avocado toast (I didn’t actually try coffee since I was over caffeinated from a coffee crawl earlier, but menu looked really good with lots of choices!)
Love this place! Boyfriend and I visit often and love coming here. Feel welcomed because the staff is so nice. Drinks are pretty damn good and the food was surprisingly delicious!
The staff was awesome with recommendations, coffee and crepes were amazing! Highly recommend.
Great coffee and super friendly staff! 10/10 would recommend!
UPDATE: I keep getting the sandwiches! Great coffee and excellent patio! Original review: Tasty Avocado 🥑 Toast! Signature coffee drinks. Full menu of sandwiches and snacks. I enjoy the atmosphere. Lots of wood and washed concrete! 😎
I waited close to a half an hour for an order. Saw many people coming go and the barista just kept blowing me off. People would walk in order, get their drinks and walk out and I'm just standing there. Waiting for an order, ask multiple times about it and just got this extremely slow monotone response that no the order hasn't been started yet... Honestly look like the barista was on a bunch of downers or something. I ended up just leaving because I'm not going to wait while a bunch of people get served before me
Yum and Yum and I will definitely be back next time I am in San Diego
I used to really like this place before the ownership change. Now, the crapes are over cooked on the outside and have strange ingredients like sirracha. I also got a latte which was more like coffee with milk, as the milk was not foamed at all. I’d recommend having breakfast elsewhere.
ordered from them on uber and my crepe tasted weird so i opened it up and they gave me rotten banana slices, it was disgusting
Slow as Christmas. Don’t stop if you’re even in a moderate hurry. Not even busy and it took at least 20 mins to get one latte. Geez.
Excellent atmosphere and drinks. Bean-O was a stellar barista today!
Really delicious crepes and genuinely good coffee. You can tell that locals come here; there is a constant flow of people walking here and getting coffees to go. We ordered the Bananas Foster Crepe (incredible) and a savory crepe. I had the vanilla lavender latte and my husband ordered a pour over. I would absolutely come back. Nice volume music going on in the background and Bob Ross was painting in the tv in the eating area. Great vibe, good food, good coffee.
Hmmm the coffee (vanilla lavendar) was delicious! The food I got was a little lackluster. I got the hashbrown avocado and egg dish... it was a little underflavored and could have used more salt, and something with crunch for better texture. I added sriracha for some tang and heat and it was ok. I expected a bit more flavor... maybe would have been better with feta cheese and walnuts for zest and crunch? Overall the coffee was impressive and the food wasn't bad per se, just not great.
Hob Coffee is in my top three coffee shops in all of San Diego. Their location in Hillcrest is great to get work done at and they always serve a good cup of coffee. 🥰
love this coffee shop! the atmosphere is great to hangout / work at, the drinks are super good and the food is amazing. staff is always super kind and helpful. definitely my favorite place to work at!
Delicious breakfast and good coffee. We recommend the salmon toast and the fruit yoghurt. The concept is to order at the desk and take your coffee yourself, breakfast was brought by the waiter.
Coffee was great and it’s a good place to relax or study
Consistently too loud music to be able to work or take any calls. Outdoors too hot in the summer, they should probably install misters. This place has a lot of potential, since they serve alcohol, but they close so early so as not to have a happy hour. Honestly, if they made this into a 24-hour study spot with coffee and booze, and maybe chill DJ nights, I'm sure they would do amazing.
So, if you are going to close your kitchen 40 mins before you actually close, then you should probably reflect that on your operating hours. What baffles me is how long does it take you to clean your kitchen at the end of day considering what you offer on your menu? Anyway, I was a vacationer staying a 6 min walk away. Convinced my kids to come with me and prepared to spend a family of 5's worth on food and drink. Well your loss was Chocolat Hillcrest's gain. I ended up driving (same amount of time it took me to walk to HOB) and I ended up spending almost $80 dollars plus $10 tip to the wait staff. I had also earmarked HOB as convinent and attractive breakfast before we packed up home, but they also lost my business for that as well. Probably would have easily dropped over $100 with my clan. Lastly, you might want to update your links and Google maps info because it shows operating hours that range from 3pm to 9pm. If you are staying in Hillcrest while visiting the area I recommend avoiding HOB trying a number of the comparable alternatives within a mile radius.
