The espresso was pretty good. I wish there was a bit more character to it, but that could just be the beans they were using. This cafe is set up really well. The lighting is great and there are tons of seats and tables. It's a great spot to do work with someone (most of the tables are 2 seaters).

So pretty inside, loved the vibe! It was packed when I went, but they have tables outside. I was able to study outside

This place is so perfect inside it looks like a movie set. The coffee was really good and the atmosphere was beautiful

Communal Coffee is great. Unfortunately, it now suffers from excessive numbers of "campers" taking over tables and sitting for hours and hours. This is the way it goes with good coffee places of course. They deserve 5 stars, but I rarely go there anymore.

A cute place to drink coffee, eat breakfast & lunch, study & work, and hangout. The interior design here is really cozy. You will definitely have a good mood to be in this space. You can also shop and buy some beautiful flowers here. I tried their avocado toast this time because Mark Wiens recommended that before. The toast is delicious but the portion is too small for $12. My parents in law had a bagel sandwich and a bowl of Cobb salad. The waiter forgot to bring the eggs for the salad. I’ll say I love here’s coffee and space but probably won’t come back for food.

Great place for lounging and doing work but it ends there. I find Communal to be quite pretentious and the coffee to be lacking in flavor. For instance, in a 16 oz latte, the coffee is unable to stand up to the milk. It just tastes like flavored milk. A 12 oz should be offered with two shots and less milk so that those who enjoy coffee can taste the espresso.

This place has been one of my favorite coffee shops in San Diego. I’ve stopped coming as often since they discontinued their protein bowls, those were my favorite! I love the variety on the menu, they have many unique items. The lavender latte is one of my favorites. The avocado toast is usually really good too, however, today I received nearly burnt toast with a very small amount of avocado which was going bad. The quality seems very different from the other times I’ve been here, hopefully it was just an off day.

Tried to come a few times but it’s too crowded with remote/hybrid workers. Ironically it’s called Communal but it’s WFH central with no where to enjoy coffee and snacks with a friend or family member. Honestly a little stressful trying to dine in. The food and coffee were average.

Quick service. Being remote workers we always look for place to work with good wifi and this place hit all our needs. We went on a Friday and was able to secure a space for ourselves.

I used to love this place. The scenery was pleasant and the coffee/food were good. But I recently came back and this is the third time that came back in the past 3 months. Every time I came in, it would be a struggle to find a seat. It’s like I’m going hunting for just a spot to enjoy coffee and honestly it’s pretty stressful. The coffee is still pretty good, but some food items are questionable. I got one of the hash bowl and it was really disappointing. On paper the food presentation looks amazing, but it was so salty I was chugging water the whole time. If you want to enjoy this chain of coffee, I recommend going for the one in South Park. Again very disappointing experiences. And definitely not coming back.

Lovely spot for a good cup of coffee and a fancy snack / lunch. Nice employees with great customer service. Nice tunes playing all the time. The place is jammed packed for the most part so it’s hard to find a seat. 4* only because the wifi is pretty weak. Been here about 20 times and always expect to have to tether internet off my phone.

Plain hot Americano was flavorful. That's always a five star in my book. Their pastries always have the right amount of crisp and fluff. Tons of seating for groups or individuals. But it's sometimes hard to find a spot because this location is always popular. I also love that they're next to a nursery. Labels for food restrictions are very organized (if you have friends that are gluten intolerant and such). Overall, a great cafe with tasty coffee and lots and lots of different food choices. Photo is the 'Chai twist' it was so good👍

We had to wait 20 minutes here to order but it was well worth the wait! I had an oat milk latte with a little house made lavender honey (ask for just a little unless you like really sweet coffee) and it was beautifully blended 🤩 What a treat!

Fantastic ambience and decor with flowers and beautiful colours all matching - if you don’t mind the line-up on a Saturday or Sunday, you will be rewarded with a great cup of coffee and a great (if you wish) gluten-free muffin. They also offer gluten-free bread and bagels. Lots to chose from on this menu.

Great cream cheese croissant, nice latte. Loved the atmosphere and little backyard. Also there is a little market with crafts, and a flower shop in this place. Highly recommended.

This place has some sort of a fruit fly or gnat problem they're obviously not taking care of. Also, the music is not so friendly today, although that's abnormal for this place.

Communal has been around for a while, but their quality hasn't dipped, they've always improved. Great atmosphere in the shop, friendly staff and plenty of outdoor seating. Parking is difficult, but hey, it's North Park.

Hands down my favorite coffee shop in San Diego. The cutest vibes, gift shop and great coffee and other food options. First place I go every time I come back to San Diego!
